Like the title says, I think my rod bearing is spun. I've pulled the transmission thinking it was the clutch, TOB, or flywheel. It turned out that everything checked out. I'm pretty sure it did anyways. It didn't used to make that noise at idle but after a few days now it does. I have 264/272 cams, Eagle rods, Forged Pistions, and many more if that helps any. Thanks in advance.

Just a few more hours and we will see!! Lol

Lookie what I found! Lol

It sucks cause I just dumped $60 plus tax on royal purple gear oil 2 days ago :/

So what did you break something in the transmission?

Bearing chunks '0 plenty. Dont waste time pulling anything else or checking. Time to remove the engine for a full tear down. Really sorry to see that bro, maybe its just the BS, it does not sound like a rod. And a main bearing, i dont think so either. I do think its the bs bearing

So what did you break something in the transmission?

Gotta drain that sucker to pull the engine/tranny. Maybe he doesnt want to re use it? IDK

yeah!! my just start doing it during a right turn, beside i live in batesville for 4 years how is everything going over there! hopefully i have some chance to open the oil pan tomorrow, don't even try to started anymore bro :tease:
Did you figure find anything out about your car yet? or do you think it is the same problem as his? Im thinking of buying a eclipse that might be having the same problem as the both of you.

I haven't pulled the motor yet, but decided to check it before I pulled it. I notice the stubby shaft had no play in it.

The balance shaft bearings has some scuffs but there are no balance shafts in there to do that so I assume it was just scuffed when blocking the oil holes.

Well if you have a stubby shaft, then it will not be a spun BS bearing.

Any of the rod caps an odd color? Blue? Black?

Grab the rod caps and give them a wiggle, should be next to no movement to them

Very little side to side (crank pulley to transmission) no up and down (head to floor). No discoloration.

To me it looks like some serious scrapping went on in the rear balance shaft housing (no oil holes). But I have no idea what would cause it cause there are no balance shafts.

Check crank end play.

Grab the harmonic balancer, shove back towards the trans, then pull forward.

If you hear a thunk, too much end play

If you can barely feel movement, check it with a dial indicator and pry bar Spec is .003-.010 IIRC

The scraping happened before this build, hence the stubby shaft in the front case.

Those marks are from an old issue.

I can't get it to move at all it feels like. Before it started making this noise all the time, it barely made the noise and when I pushed the clutch in it stopped. So my thought is one of my main bearings? It's not a clutch or tranny issue cause it does it all the time even with the clutch pressed in, and off the ground.

The common suspects, seem to checked.

Go ahead and drop the main girdle and look at the main bearings.

post pics of the bearings in the girdle and the crank bearing surfaces.

So I'm pretty sure this is my sound. All but 1 bolt was hanging out.

What are you talking about, that looks fine?

ROFL Seriously though, locktite is going to be your friend with those.
