Ok, I've searched and every thread I come across has to do with the axle being rusted it. I am trying to replace the front brake dust shields that the previous owner removed. I can't seem to get the spindle (correct me if that's the wrong name for the part) off. I have all four bolts removed and the axle removed. I beat it with a hammer but it wont budge. Am I forgetting something? Or why wont it come off. Does the wheel bearing have to come out before the spindle comes out? Attached is a pic of the part I am trying to get off. Thanks guys! :thumb:

Heat will damage the bearings inside the hub. Remount the knuckle arm securely back in place. Normally you can then pound the hub out from the inside using a large socket. But if that doesn't work, then rent (at an auto tool rental place) a slide hammer with the attachment shown at the bottom right in this picture: K-D Tools KD 41700 - Slide Hammer Dent Puller Kit.
Put on with 3 lug nuts and slide hammer away.

BTW here is what the hub looks like: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=78775&d=1198915698

I recently did hubs and bearings on my non-DSM using this kit from Harbor Freight... worked brilliantly.

Slide hammer or any other impact method to remove a hub or bearing scares me. The kit also works for installation.
