Hi,

Im new to DSM's. I bought a completely stock 97 TSi and installed a K/N cone air filter, and a 1g BOV. Other than that its stock everything.

This weekend I installed a MBG because I have a MBC coming shortly. I T-ed into the intake manifold where the vacuum tubing comes out the driver’s side top of the IM.

After that I went for a spin. I pulled 15lbs of vacuum at idle and 20lbs of vacuum when I let off the gas. To my surprise I pulled 15psi when floored it, which tapers off between 14-13psi as I pull to redline (seems kinda high). Even more surprising, when downshifting and hitting the gas I spike up to 18lbs, which quickly falls off to 15psi in about a second (or so). I can really feel it too Should I be concerned? Did I Tee into the right spot? Do you think that the MBC will help with the spiking or make it worse? She feels good...no fuel-cut or anything abnormal that I can tell.

From what ive read...I shouldn’t have this much boost with the stock exhaust...should I?

Thanks, Pauly

Mine does the same thing, I have never really had a problem with it. It will spike up to 12-13 and then back to 10.

I have the same problem with my 16g turbo, normally at 15 then spikes to 18 when shifting. I havent had a problem with it.
