so just how does this come out of the trans any how....

93 gsx

presently removing trans

a couple of questions about the spedo cable.
does the cable come out of the (sensor / gear assembly) or does the littel guy come out of the trans in a simlar maner as the 2gen sensor (the 2gen took a little wiggling but wasn't this bad) with the cable attached?

presently I have unscrewed the top portion that I thought would have held the spedo in the gear assembly but to no aval.
have also removed the one bolt that should be holding the gear in place but again I can't move it.

???

Put the screw back in, then wiggle the cable it should come out.

I just did this, if you pull on it too hard with the screw out you can pull the gear out of the tranny.

you are just pulling the cable right?

See pic, this is what you will pull out if you don't put the screw back in.

yea I was just pulling on the cable.
ended up cutting the spedo cable. (the car is a long way from being road worthy anyhow)
dropped the trans.
ended up needing to put a vise grips on the cable and wiggle the heck out of it, it was rusted in there really good.

hmm... down one spedo cable.
two tierod end links. more rust.
a fly wheel (cuz the previous owner broke a nut off, drilled it, tapped it and put a bigger one in.... grrrr....)
maybe a transfer case (cuz they also took the little rubber nob of the top and let dirt and
god only knows what else fall in there.)

btw.. balance shafts shouldn't wiggle around in the block should they??
