Speed Restriction

Ok all, my cars speed restriction is somewhere around 110-115. Is there a way without buying anything to get it off. If not whats good to buy to take it off? THanks

Yeah it says 160 and theres a couple more marks indicating it can make it to 170, but, I can't push it past 115.

there are very few cars i can think of that you can go all the way up to the end of the speedo stock...even without a governor. hell, my focus goes up to like 140 or 160 or something and without the governor tops out about 110-115....and also...even if you did have a governor to remove...it would have no affect on your acceleration. this isn't like a gokart where the governor is a piece of metal on a wire keeping the throttle from being pulled farther. it's electronic, it just stops you at the indicated speed.

the 2G's speedo goes to 170mph
the 1G's go to 140/145 mph

my 2G TSI (..GST) races up to the govenor of 137mph real fast.. doesn't take long at all with my minimal mods.. it's pretty frightening to feel your car suddenly slow down at that speed though.. heh

Your odometer will go to 999,999.9, too.

Your car's never going to see either one.

No NT has a speed governor.... other than that thing under the hood called the "motor".

Well, I took my 99 RS out tonight, was curious if there was a govenor, but this thread seems to have done the trick

BTW I had my 99 RS upto 130mph ... completely stock, probably could have gone faster, but like everyone else says it revs really high, and i didnt want to break somethin, or get a ticket ... which would end up being thrown in jail, and my car and license taken away

Uh in my RS I was in rain it was slick, started drifting off to the gurad rail and I held it to the floor in 5th with the tires turned to the left, tires started spinning at 70mph and went from 70mph - 160mph in about 3 seconds, car straightend out just in time, less than 1 ft away from the rail.

I wished i could have felt that accelleration in a car that could really accellerate that fast.. i would have to have cleaned myself afterwards.

As everyone else said, power is the only thing that will get you faster.

This is why I'll never own a N/T DSM. My frist car ever, a hand me down 200,000 mile automatic base engine civic could do 120mph. My $1,200 maxima could do 150. I like my turbo
