Okay so I'm having a sputter around 3k Rpms. I think it's getting worst. I changed my wires and that stopped the higher Rpms sputtering. So I want to change my plugs to see if that finishes it off.

So my question is:

I have some of the bpr6 NGKs. Not the 7's. Is there a dramatic difference in between the two? Should I put the 6's in just temporary until I get the 7's? Should I just treat them as the 7's and use then as my replacement plugs this time around? Or should I just not put them in all together until I get 7's?

Agreed, use the 6's and if it doesn't work just get the 7's and gap them at .028.

I've read that the 7's are more for heavily modified motors. The 6's should do the trick.

Put the 6's in, assuming you're running less than 18psi for boost. Do you have any way to datalog? Do you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator?

Yes I have an adjustable fuel regulator. But no I'm working on getting dsmlink working but my obd port won't read. I'm changing that out this weekend and hopefully that will do the trick

Okay I put them in. They definitely helped. After I put them in and started it up, the
Ridiculously ticking I had went away for a bout 5 mins, then came back. Could it e related?

I have the 6s on mine I've had them for a while n I boost 21 lbs n no problems...

best thing to do is to gap the plugs at .025 and call it a day. If you are running more than stock boost, closing the gap slightly to smaller than the 'small' gap recommended from Mitsu should fix the problem. When you gap a plug cold, as it heats up and is used, the gap increases slightly and usually why folks with 300+ hp engines have top end sputter at times. closing the gap usually solves this, especially with older stock ignition systems.

I used to have the same issues with my rx8 and the stock coils being 'weak' as they burn up a lot. Problem solved with a new gap of .42 instead of the .48 when I get new plugs and the thing pulls to 9200, no sweat. I have had 5 dsm cars and do the same thing with them in the past and they run great with the smaller gap. Pull smooth to 7500.

Well I think maybe I should just let it go. It's never while in best or accelerating, I'm in the vacuum and the only gas I give is enough to maintain speed. That's it and that's the only time it does it. Pulls strong, no issues other than at that one point. It's not anything critical, more annoying than anything cause it makes me think there's a problem, but pulls smooth through any acceleration.

What's the difference? I boost 21 and haven't had problems with my car... Should I really change them?

Only change them if they are black and fouled as for going one step colder that all depends on power levels.
Yes on what others have said #7 gapped at .026-.028 should be fine.

also it is good to note what type of fuel and driving conditions. I know that for me on e-85 8's gaped to .24 seems to work best. back when i had a 16g car on pump though even at 15 psi if i was driving it like i stole it, 7's worked better then 6's. just my 2 cents though.

I ran bpr7's all day with no problem on a stock motor with a 16g
