yea so my cars got like 100,000 miles on it, what are some good plugs to be using? i was thinkin bosh 4s but someone told me they would be bad for my car..

thanks for the replies. i guess i am still a little confused from too much reading. defiant brought the main point i was thinking about...the car is a "nice weather" car that when out of the garage does sit in traffic 60+ percent or so of the time with the occaisional run through the gears. rare track time. however, i would consider it at least having been moderatly upgraded, so 99gst racer brings up the other point. i think i will go with the 7's to be on the safe side, unless someone else has an opinion, and just check the plugs on a regular basis to see how they are doing.

thanks again,

jim

NGK recommends going a hear range colder for every 100HP added.

In my own experience, it's better to stick with the 6ES for running on the street on street gas where you are running richer AFR's as the 7ES are more likely to foul.

If running at the track on Race Gas or leaning the piss outta it on pump.. then 7ES definitely.

I have a set of both that I swap out depending on my use.

Seconded. A waste on N/T engines, and dangerous for turbo engines.
The only reason I would buy platinum plugs on N/T engines is because they last longer than copper plugs.

Yea, it only takes a few minutes to switch them out. Plus they're cheap. Get 2 sets.

When do people go to 8's?

I run 7s on the street and when im on the nitrous with 25 psi i run the 8s and i have never fouled out a 7.

Alight, i gotta 91' spirit 2.5 turbo. I blew the head when i first got the car. I had the head machined down but in turn it raised the compression of the engine causing spark knock. Right now i retarded the timing a little to stop the knock, which wont hurt the motor b/c its a non-interferacne motor. Will colder spark plugs reduce the knock so i can put the timing back to normal?

I run 8s on my Suzuki GS1000S, an air-cooled motorcycle. So, pretty high up there.

If you think 8's are high... I run 9's on my race quad. As long as Im running a little fat they can last me a 300+ mile race w/o no worry's!

Hey guys! After almost 3 months of owning my DSM, I finally changed my spark plugs :shhh: . Needless to say, the car idles smoother and definitely has a little more pep in her step, especially after I fixed a boost leak at the throttle body. A little gasket sealer and all is well. But, if you haven't changed those plugs, do it :thumb:

Changed mine the other day to platnium 2s. Good thing i did too, cuz oil covered every plug. so i bought a gasket kit that came with the valve cover gasket, and 4 plug tube seals. Felpro 17$ :thumb:

Runs a lil better now.

best plugs to use are oem bpr6ekn, they are the duel tipped on the sides of the electrode. you can try the es's but they will wear out about every oil change, the ekn's are bout 8-10 dollars each depending on where you get them, but its worth it. NGK all the way.

For some reason I couldn't find a sert of 6's... hmm, I can't find them on sites either ... so I had 7's in my old car and just put 7's in my new one... before modding, do a tune up... ROFL

BPR7ES's with NGK wires and everything was great.. I had a couple bad wires before hand which made it rough. Everything was good until the clutch said bubbyes at the races here. :D (upgrade time) Thats off topic so definitely go with NGKs! Ive heard good things about their iridium plugs too. :thumb:

as far as I remember the EKN's are CHEAPER and WORSE [worst?] for the car

So I went to Shucks and autozone today looking for the right kind of NGK spark plugs that everyone keeps talking about. They didn't have the part number that you guys keept talking about so I just wanted to know if I had the right name (I didn't buy em yet).
NGK IX Iridioms. And am I supposed to get them one range colder or what?

What number are you giving them?
I believe the ones you're looking for are the one step colder BKR7e's
Try giving them #1283 :thumb:
