My Talon tends to run like shit (down on power, engine generally feeling tired) during the extreme heat of Florida summers and I was wondering if switching from a BPR6ES to BPR7ES during the summer would help the engine run better. Any other suggestions on what I can do to help combat the weather conditions would also be appreciated.

The car is lightly modified. 14b running stock boost level on a stock fuel system and with the stock side mount intercooler.

the air is hottewr now, so there is less O2 to be burnt/mixed with the fuel

a bigger intercooler will do more for you than a spark plug change.

Thanks for the reply. I am aware of the difference in air density due to ambient temperatures and a front mount is definitely on the agenda at some point, however I was wondering if there was something simple (read: cheap) I could do to get it to run a bit smoother in the short term.

The car has trouble idling sometimes; usually on days where its cool in the morning when I shut the car off and hot in the afternoon when I go to start it again. It clears up after I increase engine revs for a few moments. My theory is the fuel trims are off because of the temperature change and I'm running rich.

about the only cheap thing I can think of is move your windshield washer sprayer nossle down to your IC so you can spray water over the IC......

well running a 0w-30 in the summer will help reduce friction which reduces heat also in the summer draining your coolant and only run water it makes it 50% better at cooling and if you dont like that idea becasue of the lubricationg properties of the coolant then you can add a product to the water called water wetter to add the lubricant and help the water dissapated the heat better good luck
