Spare tire.

I got a flat yesterday and my friend and I could not get the spare tire out. We kept trying for 20mins but it wouldnt come out. Ive looked through the owners manual and nothing was said about how to get it out.

The wing-nut that was holding it down wouldnt come loose. We were still turning it very slowly but then we just gave up.

So is there a certain way I was supposed to do it, or is there something wrong with mine?

you just unscrew the wing nut and pull it out. yes, something is wrong there. either got cross threaded or rusted, maybe from moisture from the washer fluid container.

It sounds like the screw and/or the threaded part that it screws into are stripped. If you can get some pressure under the washer while you turn it, you may be able to back it out. Otherwise you may have to cut the head off.

Thats what I figured. Since it should be easy to do in an emergency situation.
