God damn... im driving home from school and im sitting at a stop light, and all of a sudden it starts sounding like im running over twigs. i wasnt sure if it was me, so i reved it a little bit and yep it sure was. it got louder and faster. so i shut the car off. then i started it back up and it did it again. i was thinking it sorta sounded like an exauste leak, so i decided to see if it would at least drive to where i could get off the road. i started to go and it didnt feel like it had any power so i shut it off and pushed it. any ideas on what this is? i need some help thanks. oh yeah no CEL either. thankyou

well i figured it out. the alternator belt started shreading. the thing is the new belts were just put on friday. the guy who put them on said he had some problems with the alternator tensioner. but it only ripped off the inside groove, and doesnt make noise anymore unless i go to high rpms. do you think its ok to drive minimally cuz i have to get to football? also, who should i talk to about it, howell? the guy? thanks

Take it back to whomever you had install the serpentine belt. Did you take it to a shop to get done? They are responsible for doing it right. That's why you paid them to do it.
