I have a 99 N/T, and the amount of road noise I get is really annoying, It sounds like a gigantic tin can.
I have looked and there is pretty much no sound deadening in the whole car.
What would be a cheap way to go about quieting things down, or a cheap sound proofin material?
Thanks

Try rubberized undercoating. You can get it just about any part store or even your local wal-mart. It is an aerosol can. It is a cheaper version of rhino lining. I have used it many of times for trunks, beds on trucks, and inner body panels.

Yes they work great b/c you can spray them on instead of having to cut and fit pieces off the roll of sound deadening material, therefore it can be used in tighter places and takes less time to apply b/c you just simply spray it wherever you want it to be.

What is the overall outcome of spraying everything? Did it help a lot or a little? Can you compare it to something that has been tested? Do you have any pictures?

The overall outcome was very good sound deadening from outside noise. It is just a cheaper version of truck bed lining such as rhino lining. I used it when I was doing car audio a before i left for school. I used it in trunks, in trunk lids, in door panels, pretty much anywhere you want to spray the material.

This is a link to a picture of a car that has this rubberized undercoating in the trunk. It is cheap. I found some online sold by dupont for $3 a can.

I used MULTIPLE cans of rubberized spray coating in my wheel wells and under my trunk as i used to get them for free at my shop and I recomend you try something else. The deadening wasnt worth the time invested or price a normal person would pay. One thing i tried that did work well was to take great stuff ( the expanding foam filler) and a bondo spreader and spread a VERY thin coat on the underside of my trunk. Never got around to doing the wheel wells, but it expands way more than you expect so spread it THIN. then just undercoat over that rather than build a thick coating of spray.

Having worked at a shop I noticed that all the lexus and mercedes that rode super quiet all had more sound deadening on the outside of the car. Their wheel wells were normally covered in carpet on the outside and had deadening on the underside of the car rather than behind inside panels.
