Sort of shifter freeplay but only in gear

Hi guys, I have the following problem.
I've been using an original B&M shifter in my '96 Eclipse. Never had problems, always very tight. In my search to even beter shifting I came across the well known Symborski kit. So I bought this kit and installed it. Went all fine, no problems, nothing broke, didn't lose anything.
There is just 1 problem ever since installing it. The shifter has some side-to-side freeplay but only when in gear.
If I'm in 1st/2nd gear, I can move the shifter a few centimeter to the left but not a milimeter to the right. If I'm in 3rd/4th I can move it about 1 cm to the left or to the right. In 5th and reverse I can't move it to the left at all but I have the same freeplay to the right side only. In neutral it has no freeplay at all and it's just tight like it should be. There is also close to no front to back freeplay at all in any gear or neutral, again like it should be.
I did everything very precise and I'm really positive I've put it back the way it was before. I've also doublechecked it with the install guide and it should be fine.

When I shift in for example 1st gear, I pull it towards me then up, it shifts in gear. When I release the shifter, it goes back quite a bit towards the horizontal center. Same goes for 5th but the other way around.

I'm not sure where the problem is since it's only in gears and because it only moves to 1 side depending on what gear I'm in.

Maybe you always had this slight play before but didn't really notice it. Why? Well the simborsky kit gets rid of the mushy old stock rubber bushings and replaces them with metal bushings. You won't have that extra absobsion play movement that you get with the rubber type. Having this said, you will now feel and or notice the small imperfections on the shifter, shifter cables, transmission shifter arms assembly. If this is not the case. Then take your center console out and inspect your shifter assembly bolted/connected to the car. Car turmed off and in either gear. Move it from left to right or to where ever you have your play. You might need to re-adjust the cable shift selector. Check that the spring is assembled correctly and does not have any play.
Check for play on the actual shift cable. Does it actually move from in and out when in gear? If so, then it needs adjustment. If not then its your shifter assembly and you missed or need to tighten something. If it still moves, then check the cable on the engine bay area thats attached to the transmission. The sifter cables are kinda weak and the ball joint its a very weak area. Sometimes it pops out when alot of forece is applied.
Anyways. Check these areas first.
This is for a 2g wich I don't really know much about but it should be simillar to a 1g.
