hey guys

i have a guestion

why my car sometime feels like the turbo has a lot of shaft play ??
the turbo is new and it doesnt has any shaft play at all .

its like when i drive in 2nd gear at 2.500 rpm and than go WOT the turbo will boost fine but the car wont have power, like it will statrs to bogs , it feells that it wont have air at all ,of fuel , :/ if i let the gas off and than WOT again its all ok

on 7 psi (my external wg spring) its always ok
the car dont do that
on 11 psi
it will do it sometime
on 15 psi
it will do it often

what do you guys think ??

thx

anyone ??

what could be bad ?? some sensors ??

help me guys

If your profile mod list is updated then its easy to see why your car is showing those symptoms, its not shaft play. You have no tuning device, no WB o2 sensor, no fuel system mods, and your running a 2.3L stroker motor and Evo III 16g no wonder why your car isn't going into boost very well.

If you want to be able to go into WOT and run more than 7psi then your going to need to get dsmlink v3lite and a WB o2 sensor. Fuel pump and fuel injectors aren't necessarily needed until you can actually start seeing what the cars doing, that way you know if you need more fuel for the amount of boost your trying to run.

It might also be your COP setup, you might go through ALL of the wiring and make sure everythings making a good connection.

He has a 98 ecu. He doesn't need ECMLink. He could reflash his ecu with EcuFlash and EvoScan. It depends on which system he'd prefer.

OP, Have you done a boost leak test yet? Do you have anyway to tune?

And do you know how to check if your turbo has shaft play? You take 10 minutes and remove the intake pipe then try to wiggle it up/down, left/right, in/out. There is no reason to guess.

From there, I'd check your plugs.

Your right Wes, need wasn't the word to use but he definitely NEEDS something to tune and log with. Wes didn't you have a couple videos on youtube showing shaft play on a 16g? I was trying to pull them up but for whatever reason I couldn't find them.

sorry for my profile guys but i dont have 2.3L stroker
i have everything rebuild like short block , head .20 over

but not 2.3 stroker

and i know a lot about turbo engines

yeah i did boost leak test
no leaks

and ofcourse that i know how to check turbo shaft play
it is new evo3 16g

minimal shaft play side to side
but no play in/out

i know that stock fuel system and ecu can handle 16psi on t25
since i have evo 3 16g i would say 14psi ??

plugs changed bpr6es
gapped .29

and its not like it do it always guys

its like one time on day or two

ill check my COP setup as well

thx guys

Guessing how much boost you can run on stock fuel system like that is not a good idea. Get someway to look at whats going on with the motor, either EVOscan or dsmlink....then go from there.

Hey Dawid, you definitely need to get a wideband at the least so you know what your fuel trims are going into boost. You should definitely regap your plugs .026" - .028" and check your COP setup until you get a WB...

will do :D

one more question for now
i have tial wastegate that im Venting to the Atmosphere
so will the wideband work fine ??

How you have your wastegate dumped wont affect your widebands reading unless you have it dumping right on the wires for it and melt them. This may sound dumb but believe it or not I have seen it done.... Do you still have the internal gate hooked up? Also is your aftermarket gate on the manifold or the o2 housing? If your turbo is set up to have it on the manifold and its on the o2 or vise versa it will deffinately cause problems.

ok i checked my COP setup yesterday and everything looks good .
i guess it is fuel problem or some sensor problem .
what go u guys think ??

btw sometime you dont have to go WOT and it does that too :/

please help

Mine did this with a t25, it ended up being the bov was not tightened enough. It would only leak when the engine bay got hot. Also, I found that the coolant line going into the block was full of rtv from someone. After I cleaned the line, and tighened the bov everything ran fine.

ok ill try to tightened the BOV today and ill let you know guys
and "rtv" what is that ??

the car was running very stong like 3months ago but since that day i didnt figure out my problem :/

and what exacly your car was doing ??

ok guys
i chceck some things yesterday on my car

my fuel pump gets 12.1v
the pump is revied so is that low ??

my exhaust manifold cracked a lil
i still have a good manifold in my garage so ill change it today

i did BLT and i fix one very small leak and my bov is leaking so much idk why :/
i presured the system to 20psi and the bov was leaking so much :/
i tightened it and it was lil bbetter but still leaking much ://

what do u guys think ??
thnks a lot

AHHH HAAA!!!
Hows the bov leaking, around the flange or out the recirc? If its out the flange you need to pull the bov off your IC pipe and replace the gasket or use a light layer of black RTV around it. If its out the recirc then your bov could be toast if you've tightened it as much as you can.
Is the crack in your exhaust manifold actually leaking exhaust or is it just cosmetic? You can check for exhaust leaks by using a can of Seafoam on the engine. Read this thread for further guidance on the Seafoam method... Seafoam

:dsm:

it is leaking around the recirc :/
so i need a new bov ? can i fix this one ?
its greddy rs :/

and i alreadyy changed the exhaust manifold
i had a good one in my garage and i ported it while changing
so no cracks now

i find out something yesterday too
im always getting my vacuum at -19hg at idle
but sometimes like when its starting to rain
my vacuum will go to -16/-15hg :/
or sometimes when i stop from hard pull it will go to even -14hg ;/

but if i let the gas a lil it will go to -17hg and if i let the gas again it will go to normal -19hg

what is it ??
a vacuum leak ??
or some sensor ?
or stuck EGR ?

i figure it out that if the vacuum is like that the car will run worse

heres a pic

Thats normal, its low vacuum that means somethings up. Play with your bov a bit while your running a BLT, try tightening it down and make sure its not opening up while your building boost. If you can't get it to stop leaking out the recirc then you need a new one.

I was at the shop watching a 2g DSM dyno on 91oct with the stock 2g bov on 12psi of boost and everything was working just fine. Then the guy drained the 91 oct and put in E85 and in turn wanted to run more boost, I think he wanted it tuned at 18psi. On a mbc on the dyno you can stand there under the hood and turn up the boost while its at WOT until you hit the psi your looking for. But no matter how much they cranked up the boost it would only go to 14psi and everyone was standing around scratching their heads. The owner of the shop came out and saw the stock bov and replaced it with an old Greddy that was sitting on the shelf and 17psi was easy the next pull on the dyno.

The point of that story was that your bov is acting almost like a wastegate if its bad and its not supposed to do that. If the spring in there is weak it will open at a certain PSI and recirculate the air back into your intake not letting you build any more boost.

:dsm:

so that low vacuum sometimes is normal ????
why ??

and yes i know that bov shuldnt leak any air
thx for explanation btw

and i juts wanted to tell you that
when the car is cold it is acting werd all the time
i give it gas and after 2k RPM no power at all
it is acting very similar what my problem is

i just wanted to tell you that if the car is cold
the car is acting like turbo has a shaft play all the time

but i think it is coused of blocked ERG ??
and no vacuum houses ?

Its possible that you could be running a little rich due to your bov recircing when its not supposed to. Just my thought because if you dont run your bov your running lean due to less air is being read by the maf. Also as stated earlier, 18 19 lbs of vacuum is normal, and having EGR valve blocked off isnt really going to change the vacuum because your boost/vacuum guage is fed from your intake.

i know that 18 or 19 lbs of vacuum is normal but sometimes i get like 15 or even 14 lbs of vacuum :/
and if i let the gas a lithlee it will go to normal like 18 lbs

when the car has 15lbs of vavuum sometime , it will idle weird

so what it could be ? some leak ??
