Just curious to how much play should be on a brand new turbo. I heard that there always will be play just very minimal. Is this correct? Mine moves just barely so I thought Id ask. thanks

Yes, slightly shaft play is very normal on new turbos; ball bearing turbos being even more so. If it is dry bearing (non-water cooled) then the CHRA will tighten up a bit once oil goes through it.
