The car is a 97 Talon TSi FWD Auto.

Current mods:
- Intake
- UICP w/ NGR Type S
- Exhaust Cutout in place of Cat
- Boost Gauge

Now that we have that outta the way, the car has 149k miles on it running the stock t25 still so Im not expecting much more life out of it considering im running about 15-16lbs due to the mods (mainly the exhaust cutout). I dont have a MBC just yet :banghead:

So my game-plan is to scrounge up some cash over the winter then when the weather breaks, install a 14b to get a little more power outta the car. So this is pretty much a budget install. What my budget is gonna be, im not sure yet...

I just have a few questions regarding the install. Maybe get a list going of things I absolutely need to buy.

First off, I know ill need a 14b turbo (obviously), but I need an install kit. Id rather buy a kit than fabbing up some custom stuff, I prefer straight bolt ons.

Would an ebay install kit like this do the trick?

Turbo Install Kit 4G63T DSM TD05H 14B 16G Eclipse Eagle - eBay (item 380283425376 end time Nov-27-10 07:24:23 PST)

The kit seems to include all gaskets, oil/water lines needed for the install. Ill need a J-pipe which is no big deal to find.

What else do I absolutely NEED to buy to compete the install? Will I need any other gauges/logging devices/tuners/fuel upgrades/parts/etc etc? I know DSMlink would definitely help as far as tuning but is it necessary? Or would a logger do me just fine?

Ive done some research and will continue to do plenty more since im in no rush to do this, but I figured id get some good answers by posting. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :thumb:

I say use your existing 2g drain line. Buy a SS feed line/new turbo to manifold gasket/new turbo to 02 housing gasket/new j-pipe gasket/use your existing coolant lines.

For other parts WITHOUT spending a lot of money, I say you can keep everything stock as long as you dont turn up the boost past 13-14 psi on the 14b.

the kit will work... get it for peace of mind when you dive into the swap

if you end up using some of the 2g setup on the 14b so be it.. i think RRE sells a kit for it too

btw you will love the 14b over the t25
