I'd like to get a new turbo soon but I want something inexpensive. I can't afford to get a Evo 3 16G or else that would be my choice. I'm thinking of just looking for a 14B and hoping to find one around $100 which would probably be my best choice, but I'm not sure if I should look around and see if I can get a small 16G for around $250-$300. Is $300 to much for a small 16g?

I have 3" downpipe/catback, UICP's, Greddy BOV, and MBC. Once I get a new turbo I'll probably sell the T25 and buy a Walbro 190 fuel pump with that.

Considering those mods what would be best for me? Get a 14b now and step up to the 16G's later on or shell out a little more and get a small 16G or something? I've been searching and reading nonstop for the past couple days cuz I gotta make a decision soon so I'm just looking for more advice. Thanks

get a good 14B and if you are really that cheap you can just get a Bullseye Turbine Housing for $220, this will increase topend since its a 7^cm2 housing on ur 14B. Later on just save for a 20G or a 50-Trim.

Well I'm watching this auction right here for a 14b so I'll see how that goes. I'm sure just getting a 14B and porting the turbo, mani, and 02 housing will improve my car a great deal, correct? Will that fuel pump help if I get it or not until more upgrades?

Sounds like you have a mind set on 14b, you could find a moderately used 16g for around 300 though. Also, yes a fuel pump will help, but it will help even more with injectors/tuning device. Watch your budget and spend effectively it might be best to wait for a purchase with pump/injectors/tuning all the same time, or buy one at a time as you get money.

Well I wasn't sure if spending $300 now on a say a used small 16G turbo would be a good purchase. Didn't know if it was worth the $300 or not vs. the maybe $115 or so I could get a 14b for. That's my dilemma

Okay I also found a Big 16G in like new condition for $300. Is it beneficial to get the 16G over the 14b even though I wouldn't have any fuel mods or FMIC to support it?

That sounds like a good deal for the 16G and you can run it without fuel mods at lower boost, say 15psi, and once you have enough money, buy some fuel mods so you can turn the boost up.

Okay well he said it has 2k miles but nothing wrong with it so hopefully I can get it. Then I'll just have to worry about finding everything to hook it up to my 2G.

All you will need is a J-pipe and an Oil line, it's really pretty easy.

There's a local guy here that will port all 3 (turbo, manifold, 02 housing) for $100 w/ only about a day and a half downtime for me. W/ the money I get selling my T25 I can get that done and it'd save me the hassle of doing it and it'd be alot less downtime.

Or, you caan save that $100 for something you need. Porting may seem like a pain, but it's not that bad. It seems as though your in a bind right now for money, so doing things yourself would help

FYI, I sold my stock T25 on eBay for $280 with 85,000 miles on it. This should cut into your cost. I also sold my 2g BOV, 2g fuel rail, stock intercooler pipes which I had modded for $15 to eliminate the neck down, stock fuel pump, stock side mount IC, among other things. All this went back into my car as upgrades.

There are plenty of Honda guys which need stock 2g turbo parts. :thumb:

I agree, but also I'd have to go by a die grinder and that's $50 right there. I really don't have money for it, but I also want it done right and what's $50 to have someone else do it and not have nearly the downtime.

I'm in the same boat as you, and went with a ported/34mm flapper big 16g with most of an install kit for 400.
My reasoning for this is that it puts me closer to my intended goal (275-300 awhp), whereas I'd have to have really pushed the 14b to reach that (and/or been impossible, most likely the latter).
Also..I knew I wouldn't be able to stop modding if I just did fuel pump and 14b at 15psi :D

Yeah I really wanna get the 16....I'm excited

Will someone confirm those ebay links, particularly the Oil Feed line one so I know that is the correct one and I don't end up with wrong parts?

If I get those 2 will I be okay? Just re use water lines and I'll have to file down the Oil return line in order for that to work and everything else is okay correct?

Also I guess I'll need to get new gaskets if I get everything ported out...

Damn all that stuff adds up, gets more and more expensive, LOL.

Yes, that is exactly the stuff you'll need to complete the install. Some people choose to buy a new 1g oil return line, rather than filing down the holes in the stock 2g one, but I'm going to reuse my 2g until I have a reason not to ;).

Also, I would never pay that much for that Jpipe ($30+$10shipping). You could pick up a stock 1g j-pipe for like $15 shipped if you're going cheap, but that pipe narrows out a good deal.

As far as gaskets, you will probably want a new oil return tube gasket, and perhaps a new turbo-to-manifold gasket if yours is in bad shape. I'm going to pick up one of those from SBR, along with a 7cm turbo to o2 gasket. Should cost like $30 total (damn gaskets--expensive and all they end up doing is leaking :p)

I have a small16g and j-pipe that I may be selling--Kevin has dibs, and he will be letting me know in the next week or so whether he wants it. PM me here or on the other forum, and we'll talk.

Yeah I know that's way to much for the J pipe, when i first posted the link it was only $9.99. How much u sellin that 16G to him for?

Okay well the Big 16G I wanted I didn't get, so now I'm looking at others.

On DSMTrader, I found a Evo 16G w/ everything to install for $400 shipped. The turbo has 3200 miles on it and is said to have no shaft play, leaks, cracks or anything. Seems kinda cheap to me....

Does that sound right?

Also if I pay through paypal and I get ####ed is it a big ass hassle to get the money back or does their program work fairly well?

I told him that we can either do Paypal or COD, I don't know another way to do it because he has no references or anything and I've been getting ####ed alot this money and I don't wanna get screwed over again.

A lot of people are reluctant to do cod because they are afraid of getting screwed, however it is a very good method as you can take the turbo out and inspect it before you pay. That seems like a very good price actually because a new evo16g is 560 new from most sites, so 400 doesn't seemed far fetched especially with 3200 miles on it.

Yeah I would really like for him to do COD for that exact reason. You said people don't like to do it because they get screwed though, how would that be possible? Cuz I would have to pay the post office to get the item then they give him the money, seems like the most fair way.

Some people just don't like it? Maybe because of the time it takes to get the money. I don't know if it could happen but you could damage the item send it back and say it was that way when you got it, although that would be pretty messed up. If he goes for COD then you can inspect it like said so I would push that method myself.
