Hello, I have a 91 dodge colt vista, 2.0 SOHC 4G63. I would like to do a swap to the dual cam turbo setup. Correct me if I am wrong but this motor should bolt right in....same block different head right?? It has the F5M22 trans which I have seen in 1G GST's.

I am looking for some guidance as to how in depth of a swap this is going to be. I know I will be changing wiring harness and ecu but as for axels and trans I think I am good. Pretty strange swap I know but if it can be done relatively easily I may tackle it.

Any info on it would be appreciated

I'm pretty sure the GST's came with the F5M33, the F5M22 was only in the 1.8l (4g37), although I've heard that you can bolt a 22 up to a 4g63. I don't know how long that F5M22 will last with a turbo setup.

F5M22's are geared higher due to the lower torque output of the 4G37 and 4G63 NT motors - to move a 2500lb chassis to run the vehicle in the proper torque range.

Turbo users like using these trannies just for that-to get out of the gate quicker and only for FWD vehicles, but these trannies aren't a beefier as the F5M33 ones.

to make it work out better, just use a 1g turbo gst transmission, and use the 1g 6 bolt flywheel, all of your stock clutch lines/shifter cables should work with a 1g dsm, if you decide to use the sohc block id recommend you either

A .have the block taped for oil jets, and use 1g dohc stock cast pistons or
B . don't use the stock vista block, and just get a 4g63t motor and transmission out of a gst, [don't forget the wire harness and ECU/ MPI relay.]

also you will need a smaller radiator, not many people know about this issue, not to mention own a vista anymore for that matter, [the stock radiator wont let the turbo manifold fit on the head ] i would use an after-market Honda civic one should fit might work, you will also need a new fuel pump ether a 1g stock one, or a 190 lph one,
the timing belt side motor mount may need some fabrication.

if its a 8v youll have 11:1 or higher if you swap to the dohc head.
