Caledonia,
I'm trying to get my ECU socketed so I can use my DSM Link. I'm not shipping it all the way to the states to get it done by ecmlink. Can anybody tell me a place on Canada Ontario near Hamilton perhaps that will socket for me?

Try a radio or TV repair shop.. Alot of those electronics have eproms.. Just buy a socket from here...
Welcome to www.moates.net! : Moates.Net a 28 pin socket is our ecus..

I actually did my own but i wouldn't recommend it.. It can cost you if you mess up. Im a elt major so i mess with this stuff daily..

I did my own also.
Here`s some tips:
1) Do it in a well-lighted work space, & maybe use a magnifying glass to help see what you`re doing
2) Use a decent quality pinpoint soldering iron tip & spend the extra time to clean the bottom side of the board thoroughly(remove the green film)
3) Just be patient & take your time - It is actually very straight forward & not difficult to do if you have a steady hand & can see what you`re doing (well lighted & magnified if necessary)
:talon:

I did my own also, as well as the caps. The hardest part is desoldering the old parts. Once you get them out and clean up the board it goes back together really easily. Just make sure when you solder the new pieces on that you get solder on both sides of the board. That is if you feel comfortable doing it yourself.
