EProm ecu socketing?

Hey all, ive been delving around the previous posts and looking for information about dsmlink and so fourth. So far ive found out from the previous owner that the car has an EPROM ecu, but hes not sure if its socketed or not. Is there any way to tell if i pulled it out and checked the board? from what ive seen if its socketed it will be missing a microchip on the lower right hand side for the OBD plug? Can anyone shed any more information on this topic? I'm eventually going to get a dsmlink logger for the car so i can tune it better. Thanks guys!

Hi,

What is the current management, or what was the previous management if the ECU is socketed? You will be able to see the chip in it. Just pull the ECU and remove the cover. Don't forget to disconnect your battery first. You can post a pic if you need more help.

Yes there will be an eprom socket that will have to be removed and the new socket put in.

You can get a few loggers on your phone for the obb2 port..If your car was manufactured in 94 tho it still may be obd1.

Im on my phone so i cant post a link of what the 2g eprom looks like,but if you open the ecu there will either be an eprom chip,or no eprom chip.. Its pretty straight forward.

The socket is circled; the chip is next to the socket. The chip on the board appears to be socketed.

Ok, im gonna try and yank the ecu out on wednesday, that way i have a whole day if i mess anything up . Ill let you guys know. Thanks for the helpful pics!
