never never land, Maryland
i see alot of posts from people that has or had crank walk. i am in the market for a car and am avoiding a 2nd gen turbo for im convinced that if i do get a 2gen dsm, it will cw. from what i have read, it seems like crank walk is a "when is it going to happen" thing rather than a will it happen... am i wrong? maybe all you guys that have had your car for a long time ( and not have had crank walk) could post, what kind of driving you do and how many miles you have driven? later.

Crankwalk... Smankwalk... 100 000 miles here and no signs... It's kinda like the myth with RSX TypeS owners with the 2nd gear grind... it's rare... don't worry about it... if you get it consider yourself one of the few and go play the lottery... it might be your lucky day ;)

97 gst 145k with c/w i bought it that way thow and didnt know. First thing i would do before buying a gst is change the oil and make sure it dont knock!But if u can get one cheap u can always find a 6bolt for cheap and throw it in. I think c/w happens to alot of ppl but then u can get lucky and not get it. Just like any other car ship happens jsut get it and have fun! even thow my car has been sittin for 5 out of the 6 months i had it i rather fix it spend some money then drive my civic! :dsm:

crankwalk is so overrated. try owning a 94 ford tbird. i went through 2 trannies, a torque convertor, a ecu, a whole a/c system, and a crapload of other sensors and such, all of which doubled the price i got the car for.

and if you do walk you get a jdm block for cheap and build up that sucker real nice.

65k and nothing here.

I'd say buy what ever year you like and drive it like you own it :thumb:
I'd be 1000 times more concerned about other things going wrong and checking for those problems before you buy the car.

If you are truely affraid of crankwalk, I recommend buying a 98 or a 99. They seem to have the least occurances of the issue.
Probably because they've had less time and mileage to allow the problems to surface.

90k no signs of wallking.

we have had plent to customers with stock 7bolts with 400hp+ that run wat over 100k. One in particular was one of my favorites, a 95 GSX made 470whp with 102k on it and spun a rod at 170k.

It seems like every other day people post about crankwalk, even now. I have lots of other things to worry about other then if my car will walk.

My 95 TSi AWD - 92k miles - no CW. (RIP for other reasons)
My 93 TSi AWD - 7 bolt - 110k miles, no CW.

It really doesnt happen as much as people make it out to... it just sucks if it does happen.

88k here and no signs of crankwalk.*shudders* (damn that is a scary word) but all is well here and it still pulls like a raped ape. *knocks on wood* :thumb:

Be a man and buy a 2g with a 6bolt .. LOL or do it yourself .. and then you wont think about cw..

95 GSX 202k ==== No walk
95 GSX 130k ==== No Walk
95 GST 98k ==== No walk

These are the 3 DSMs I have owend, never had crank walk and allwese used ACT clutches.

They where all 94 produtions, I have been told the 95s with a 94 prodution date are the least likly to get this crank walk stuff.

Yes that's true. They are actually the least likely out of any year to get crankwalk. I was told that from a mitsu mechanic. Plus if you look at all the 95's who got crankwalk i'm willing to bet that they were not made in 94.

85k miles no CW...

I get shit from all my honda friends asking me if I have to keep a spare engine in the hatch for when it does crankwalk.

oh, well maybe they should keep a pair of binocular's handy for when your car looks better than theres as its flying by.

Cant say too much here. 96 gst just bought it and needed a crank. I think it was purely the last owner beating the piss out of it. It was on its second engine and had 20k miles max. Now its rebuilt with 15 miles on it. No CW yet but then again its a auto... ;)

140,000 and no cw. CW is one of those things that I think tends to happen around a certain milage...for instance I'm not aware of any 2gs that have made it to 100k miles and then walked...(if there are any let me know so i can work up a new theory). So far it seems like one of those things that if it is going to happen it tends to happen in the first 50k miles. But none the less it is overrated.

me too...many cases of crankwalk over 100K. has anyone found a cure? i heard that the oil squirters in the 2g's got clogged really easy and this one shop replaced them with 1g's every 4g63 they built up and never had a problem after that...they cut up a couple blocks hoping for a solution and i think they found it. what do yall think?

120,xxx miles No CW and no signs :dsm: btw 97 gsx So dont not get one because of rumers!!!
