Out of curiosity, what is he asking? IF you could get it for 500-800 it would probably be worth it, but anything more than that hell no.
For yanking the motor, I don't think I would go any higher than $500.
3k asking only could get him down to 2,700..... and wouldn't budge from there, 98 gsx auto, clean interior and clean body.... but over heating and this knocking issue...

Ask him how much the shop said it would cost to repair that... it'll be close to what the car is worth... if it was running.

like the former dsmer said "crank walk" is a sielent killer. if the engine has a crank angle sensor and it crank walked the sensor wil destroy due to crank side to side play (thrust clearance) and engine will die. souds like a bad rod knock. good luck man
