so now i dont only have bad bearings in my tranny, i now have a bad second gear sycronizer... i was just wondering how long i can grind into gear til this thing totally takes a dump... im planning on a rebuild, but i have to get back and forth to work for a few weeks first. now my questions are, can this be driven if i baby that gear when driven? and is there any kind of aftermarket syncros that are stronger than the stock ones?

thanx for your help
:dsm:

Yeah you can drive it for a few weeks. Especially if it just happened. Be sure to baby it for awhile, eventually it will go in a whole lot easier. You should be fine for awhile :thumb:

Mine has been bad for about 1/2 a year to a year. So you've got some breathing room :dsm:

so it will start to go in easier after a little while? thats a little weird, but i finally found a thread that says somethin about double syncros, will this help out against this happening again?

thanx

if you truly have no synchros into second gear, rev match, and or double clutch-

pretend you're driving a big rig, or a 1952 oval window bug. :D

then fix that crap

haha, thanx for the help guys... it is starting to get easier again, unless im at high rpms in first then try to do it, it takes longer, grinds longer.... like when i say high its like 4500, im not trying to shift at redline or anything, but it does shift alot better at like 3000rpm. but actually i dont wanna make things worse so im goin first to third most of the time unless im climing a hill. that should preserve second til i can get it rebuilt...

thanx all

so i was comin home from the skatepark and shifted to second alongside another eclipse, when i did the tranny started pinging and making horrible noises. so when i pulled over, i let it idle in neutral and didnt hear much so i backed it up, and when it moved like 4-5ft. back, and the wheels locked up and came to a screeching stop... so ill be taking it to aamco in a few weeks to get it rebuilt.

but in the meantime does anyone have a clue what happened, the car seems really jerky on a constant throttle in gear it jerks forward and back... it had rough bearing noise before, could they have finally gone out fully or somethin??

thanx all
