Well i was driving to the dyno today after work to watch my buddy dyno his car, about a block away i shift into 3rd(babying it) and it grinded bad, more than usual, i thought maybe the syncho took a dump, but then i pull into the parking lot and realize my clutch wont disengage, and is making a growling/grinding noise with the clutch despressed. I have an ACT2600 with a streetdisc, im hoping one of the springs just snapped and the pressure plate is ok.

When i pull the tranny tomorow and if it is the disc that broke, im trying to decide between a 6 puck unsprung or sprung. what do you guys think? I DD my car everyday and sometimes see traffic being that i live in NY. What advantages are there to having an unsprung as opposed to a sprung? Is it just that there are no springs to break off?

I currently have a 50 trim but plan on going with a 3065 in the next year. If a 6puck sprung will snap a spring just as quickly as a streetdisc will then i dont know if i want to go sprung... what do you guys think?

make sure you have fluid in the resivour. then make sure the slave cylinder moves when the cluth is depressed. just to be sure it isn't anything small

Yea, i checked all the hydralics already the slaves moving as far as it should.

So no leaks and you have full fluid? Did you try to do a bleed? Does it shift fine with car turned off?

No leaks, it shifts like normal with the car off. With it running i cant shift directly into 1st or reverse, i have to slowly shift into 2nd to to make the synchros slow the input shaft, then i can quickly shift to 1st or reverse. And with the car running if i depress the clutch all the way to the floor i get a bad grinding/groaning noise. I think i broke a spring off the disc, or something is blocking up the disc. Im gunna pull the tranny tonight ill post some pics of what i find.

Never popping a disk spring again is well worth the learning curve of driving an unsprung disk in traffic. I dd unsprung puck disks all the time. You slip more with your foot, instead of relying on the disk to smooth out the engagement.

Thanks Donniekak, i was all set to get an unsprung 6puck til i got the tranny out tonight and found out a finger broke off the pressure plate... grrr.

Yea, im going to try to send it out to them, unfortunately this is my DD so i just ordered a new one. If they do decide to warrenty it or repair it ill just have to save it for a backup.. Does anyone know if this is common?
