smoke on start up?

I have just taken my car out of storage, from the winter; and I noticed a white smoke coming from under the hood. I am wondering if it is normal for the car to do that, since it has been stored since Nov. 2006[week before thanksgiving] and I just got it out of storage yesterday. Oil pressure seems to be fine, so does water temp, voltage, and so on. So right now im pretty much clueless. can someone shine light on this please?

Did you check the altternator before you started the car, some critter could have made a home in it and you just cooked it for them ...Any kind of charred remains down there?

Is it still smoking now? I had a similar type of smoke coming from that area and it was becasue I had a small exhaust leak in that area. Is there any way you can get a better look at exactly where it is coming from?

check the side of your block for oil it could be the beginings of a bad head gasked, also check the oil line going to and from your turbo if their leaking oil onto the turbo it would be smoking. just below that area is your oil pump and filter so it would be good to get under the hood and make sure nothing looks juicy down thier. good luck

Yea, i checked it for critters[], and didnt find anything, checked for exhaust leaks, and thats fine, checked for oil and thats good too.... but I did find out it was a simply rubber hose, that had cracked. guess it dry rotted during the winter snow....its replaced now, and seems to be fine..i hope, thanks for all the advice though. im just glad it wasnt the headgasket.....

I agree with midnight I had a similar leak only when cold and it was a broken manifold stud,top right stud,right in that corner.pull that top heat shield to see.
