Okay...Just did a new block rebuild pistons/rods and everything in the head. I did the first start up....brought it to running temp, then did the alternating RPM's up to 2500 and then held and then back to 1500...and so on for 30 mins. I shut it down and let it cool all the way and changed the oil.

Now I went and started it. let it warm up..then I took it out onto the road. I noticed some misfires during driving it, but I was doing not easy but not hard 3rd gear pulls, then I would coast letting the engine slow down the car. During this time I noticed being able to smell the exhaust a little. I went home, and noticed now the car is smoking a light blue, the temperature outside did change a lot went from 50 to about 40/30. During idle it will smoke a little, and when I bring it up into the RPM's it will smoke a lot. Smells like normal exhaust though.

My question is....is this normal/me being worried(I know that there will be some smoke as everythign has to set) but I was going to let it sit tonight and mess with in a day or so.

Also I do not want this to turn into a break in thread...as this is why I am posting because everyone that I found did that and did not discuss the brought up issue

Well the Air/Fuel (wideband) is running around 15.0 +-1 for the most part at idle, then goes to 10-14 when I was doing some pulls on it. I had a local shop put it together and i installed the engine. I figured I would give it about 200 miles as there is only 30 miles on the engine and about 3 hours of runing time.

Like I said I was just worried as when I did the first start up..there was no smoke at all and then when I did the 2nd one and drove it a little, and came back it was smoking...I am also going to check the PCV valve too, as it was already on the valve cover when I got it, so that could be assisiting with it.

Do a compression test. It is burning oil. I would go after the shop that did the rebuild but do a compression and leakdown test first so you have some leverage to use against them. Sounds like the rings weren't gapped right or they didn't/improperly replace your valve stem seals.

Well called the shop and they said that it was normal for a turbo and a rebuild to do that....They said just keep an eye on the oil and coolant and all that and if it doesnt stop in about 2 wks time(~500 miles) driving to get ahold of them...I am doing a compression check tomorrow, but what should I be expecting with only a few hours if that of running time??? Or am I just looking for consistency through out the engine cyclinders????

Okay just did a compression test.The results were as following
4=145
3=145
2=145
1=150

Now keep in mind this engine has less then 3 hrs of running time on it....also it seemed like it wasn't smoking nearly as much either...there was still smoke though...but i also have no cat, and it was about 30 degrees outside. Changed the oil too before doing this, and no coolant seemed to be in it, and checked the coolant and seemed to have no oil in it either....so I am assuming it is still good....

You'll be fine, just make sure you keep it filled with oil and coolant. Check it daily.
Just listen to what the shop tells you to do and if it persists, take it back.

Don't get to worried and get guys on here to tell you some conspiracy story, and end up messing things up.

Update...Drove the car today again...doing about 15 pulls from 3rd and 4th gear and coasting....I also changed the PCV valve which was actually bad, and now the car barely smokes....So it could of been a mixture of both of them...But we will see..

from what I read from most of them it was from about 20-40 mins of doing that...seemed more of a preference then anything....
