Well it's that time, I need to get my car smogged. I've been searching for a little while now and now I'm not sure my car will get through, even if I buy a high flow cat.

My mods are listed in my profile. I am somewhat worried about a couple of things with the OBD II and sniffer test.

1. DSMLink in a 1996 GSX, supporting the 850cc injectors I have in my car. I know that the require '95 ECU is required to run DSMLink and that it is pre-OBDII while the '96 is not.

2. A high flow cat. I need a 3" high flow cat that has slip fit ends (female) that had the dimensions around 16"x4"x6.5". I saw that magnaflow had one that fits the dimensions pretty well and are both obd-II and carb compliant but I don't know if they are slip fit. I've looked around but I don't know if the other types will pass the sniffer and not throw a check engine light.

Here might be some good info on my past smog. I had the 6 bolt on with the 14b, stock exhaust, with the FMIC.

Idle:
-CO2 measured 15.2
-o2 measured 0
-HC (PPM) measured 10 (MAX of 100)
-CO measured 0 (MAX of 1)

2500 RPM
-CO2 measured 15.2
-o2 measured 0
-HC (PPM) measured 2 (MAX of 130)
-CO measured 0 (MAX of 1)

Results of PASS on both

Any advice would be great, if you know for sure that any universal cat will pass, please say so, and I would be very pleased if we kept this on subject. I know that this subject has been discussed many of times, but I never did find anybody that had the same problems as I am encountering right now. Thanks in advance for the responses.

Some 3" high flow cat may be obd-II and carb compliant is other states, but not in CA. It takes $$$ to get by on that one.

carb compliant = legal in california. you may be able to pass with other cats, as long as the rear o2 sensor is hooked up it wont give a cel. A 95 eprom ecu with dsmlink is obdII compliant and can pass the smog test.

I have contributed greatly on cars that I have passed legally here in cali. You shouldn't have a problem, if you fail, you either got a dick of a smog tech, or for silly reasons like visual, and the obvious like no cat, or other emissions equipment that are not in working order.

Do a search for "smog" you'll see the posts I made.

heres a summary:

I passed with my black car you see here
<---------

mods in profile.

also passed a 95 talon with 6 bolt swap, mls, arp, etc, evoiii gt, 3" turbo back, 720cc, 190, dsmlink, etc etc..

Again, if we pass, you should, unless what I stated above.
