Small oil leak

hey there. hoping someone can help me out with this. i noticed a small puddle of oil building up on the heat shield for my headers a while back but as i had just set the oil cap there, thought maybe that was it and just cleaned it up, but now its back. it seems to be leaking from the pipe that is located just above the heat shield right where it connects to the flexible pipe. i circled the location in a pic (this is not my car, just easier to see as the flexi pipe is red)

So, question is...what is that pipe and how do i fix this? i would assume i can just replace the flexible piece of pipe (mine has aged terribly...very dry) but figured i would ask.

Its an coolant pipe that is running there, that hose sometime does that and needs to be replaced. Also the coolant after hitting the heat shield will turn dark. The only way oil can be leaking there would be from the value cover gasket.

Ah ok. I do have a small amount of oil the the top of my valve cover. Guess its time to replace the gasket.

Not to hard, just get an fel pro gasket. Rip off and clean the surfaces and replace

Perfect! Thanks for the link... I love reading through guides =) the engine was rebuilt 26k miles ago so there is a chance they didnt tighten it down properly... Also, i didnt see and squeeze out of silicone anywhere. Normally you can find some somewhere if they used it. Ill look into it soon and update you
