Edmonton,
Hey guys, well im getting ready to order my front mount, and now im wondering if its worth it to swap out my small 16g and sell it, then purchase a evoIII big 16g? am i going to notice big gains? is it worth the extra money?

So you don't have FMIC? I would spend money on that rather than getting a tiny bit bigger turbo.

No you will not see the gains I believe you wold want. The small16G flows 505cfm@15 PSI, the EVO does 550cfm@ 15 PSI. I know of an 18G for sale that has 2000 miles on it, it's ported and has a TD 06 compressor housing. Just $420. shipped! Can't beat that. 600 cfm @ 15 psi. After that you get into the 20G or hybrids. If interested in the 18G let me know and I will find his address, mark

haha, thanks guys, i want some more opinions, thanks for all of yours, but im getting two completely different answers. hahaha, thanks.
and yes, i am getting the fmic regardelss, but im just wondering if i should throw in the new turbo when i put the fmic in.

I bought all ported EVO components from Buschur in early July. I have a 50 trim on order. The EVO is a great turbo. Ported it spooled as fast as the 14B. It just lacked the pull in 3-5 that I want. I have ran a 20G on a 2.6 Conquest and that pulled hard through all the gears. I also ran a small 16G and a 19C on the Quest.
The problem I had with the DSM is that after the EVO prices jump to a grand. Except with an 18G. the inducer of an 18G is 2mm more than the EVO and flows 50 cfm more. If comparing new turbo's and their cost the EVO would be my choice also. However a ported 18G with the TD 06 comp housing with 2k miles & $410. shipped is a great deal. I mis-typed it as $420. this morning. The price is only good through this weekend and then it goes to $450. shipped. I do not know the owner of the 18G but I was considering it and told the guy I would pass the word. Good luck with your choice and if anyone knows anyone who wants a good turbo cheap have tem get ahold of me. Thanks, mark

as far as im concerned the evo316g not only flows better but outperforms the 18g hands down. and u will definetly notice a big difference between a small 16g and an evo3

Agreed. A e316g will outperform a 18g. They will spool so much faster than a 18g will and have just as good topend. I myself just went from a s16g to the e316g and if you have the mods, it will be a big difference. I reach full boost at 3300 with a tube manifold. Would be slightly quicker with a cast manifold. Their rated at 380hp. If you can tune it right you should be able to push 400hp out of it. Have it fully ported and do the 34mm flapper mod. Their a must if you wanna experience the maximum performance that the evo will put down. IMO, its the best street turbo out there for the price :talon:

Ok the small 16g is a very underrated turbo. Sure the evo 16g is good as well but not worth the upgrade in my opinion. Just go bigger if you are at all.

Also freind of mine made 320fwhp on his e16g and i made 302awhp on my small 16g when you do the math we are almost making the same hp at the crank and both have the same mods expect he has dsmlink for tuning.

And now i have cams onthe way for the small 16g, im going to squeeze everything this turbo has to offer from it. Then when i go bigger everything will be in place to go alot faster.

what about if i go with a big 16g? is that worth it? or is the evoIII better?

The evo is still better. The compressor wheel is bigger. Not much but its still bigger. And ontop of that, its lighter which leads to quicker spool up. The exhaust housing is huge. Its 2.5" which is what really helps for allowing all thoes gas to discharge very easy and quickly. Plus its perfect for running the evo o2 housing. And the turbo is very light compared to the 16g and 14b. If your planning on spending that kinda money and you cant decide on which 16g to get........get the evo. Trust me ;)

Well the B16g and E16g are about the same. I think the E16g spools a little faster.

As far as the difference in swapping your S16g with a bigger one, of course it will make more power but won't be a really big difference. Especially if you plan on running the same amount of boost.

Evo16G is better than the small16G yes....that being said don't waste your money/time installing another small turbo. It will only be a matter of time before you lust after a large turbo. You already have a VERY potent small turbo when you are ready to upgrade from the small 16G you will be ready for a MUTCH bigger turbo.
Just my opinion based on many DSM'S i've owned and MANY different turbo setup's I've run.
