Is the step to 16g even worth it?

Alright, I already have a ported 14b in my car and it pulls pretty damn good, for future reference though, is it even worth in to make the step to the 16g series or would the gains be minimal? Basically, I like the idea of keeping the TD05 shell for a sleeper look but I see the turbochargers.com have the godzilla series that look almost stock and produce even more power. Should I pass by even the Evo 16g? Thanks guys.

I just upgraded from a 14b to a small 16g. The topend is much better compared to the 14b. I even had a 7cm housing on my 14b. The midrange is about the same, but its in the upper rpm where you'll see the difference. Considering I sold my 14b for $200, and bought the turbo brand new for $500, it is well worth it in terms of performance. The car is much funner to drive since it pulls to redline alot more eagerly. However, I wanted to install a 2.5" downpipe as well, but the 16g is already boost creeping to 17psi on my stocker. So I suggest that you have some porting work done to eliminate the creep.

The 14b compressor typically will not outflow the turbine housing, hence its lower powe rating.

Do Not get the 16G, you will be dissapointed and left wanting more power. It will only be slightly noticable after 18psi, where the 16G flows more efficiently. Your next step in upgrading is a hybrid 50 trim turbo ( AGP, PTE ). Others may protest, but you will be happy with that turbo.

It's all about what you want to do with the car. 14B to 16G is a step up. I did it a month or two ago. There is a DEFINATE difference up to redline. It doesn't fizz out after 6000RPM like the stocker does. But if you want to run anything faster than 12's easily, probably look for something bigger.

Lag is always an issue. My lag only jumped up probably 300-400 RPM, so not bad at all.

How much more power do you want? What times do you want to run? How extensive to you want your set-up to get? These are all things you need to consider. It is an upgrade and a good one at that but you have to think about your goals.

My first turbo upgrade was to a 16g. It was fun, and I really enjoyed the turbo, but my current 50-trim is just that much better that I would recommend just jumping past the 16g to the turbo you'll eventually want. Of course that means you'll need a bit more to make the most of it, hehe.

When I upgraded from my T25 to 14b, I was pretty disappointed, the gains were minimal, then again maybe I had a bad 14b who knows, 2 years later I upgraded to a Big 16g, which it was 2 weeks ago.
With the 14b at 17psi it was ok but not impressive.
Now I'm running the Big16g at 15psi, after 3500 rpm the sucker just keeps pulling and pulling the difference is night and day.
I am very pleased with the upgrade, I would do it over again. I also just got 550 injectors and a SAFC to be installed by the end of the month, I'm also getting it dyno tuned, I'll post the numbers once I get it done.
Look for it by the end of this month, beginning of may.

Yeah if you wanna upgrade to a fitty trim, you're going to have to take into consideration that you need a larger intercooler and oil lines for the new turbo system, larger injectors an afc. Going with the 50trim is going to cost you alot of hell more.

Yeah, I agree with everyone who said not to go to a 16G... You won't notice much difference between the 14b, especially at lower boost 12 - 16 psi... Go straight to something bigger like a 20G or a 50 trim...
