ok i am looking into getting either a 14b or a sm16g. What i currently have is a megan downpipe, intake, uicp , greddy type s, and all maitence. My only plans to the car are 3" downpipe back, srt fmic(already have but no piping hooked up.), safc, dattaloger, wally 190, 610 injectors, and prob maft. Which turbo would be more benificial and by how much. I am looking for low 14 to high 13 track times. is that possible with the set up above. i do know how to drive my car.
by the way i have a 2g fwd.
what other performance parts may be necissary?

Well, if you decide to follow through with the plans you have set out, then I wouldn't buy either. I'd go straight to an EVOIII Big 16g turbo. With the list you posted and a Big 16g your goals shouldn't be too far away.

both should be fine id go with the 14b because i have that. you canbuy for cheap check out www.buschurracing.com but being awd i can at any rpm if your fwd you will have fun lighting the tires put a boast controller and a bov and a real boast gauge. as for quarter times traction will be a issue but take it to a track and run the lights or look around at night or day with no police and find a decent quarter and set some times out on the street.
this should get you knockin on 13s door
For one its "BOOST", two yes, you are correct a 14b would get him there but it would be a better idea to get a evo3 16g, traction wont be an issue unless he's launching at 5k, a 14b or evo 3 isnt going to do anything to traction, and as for the look for 1/4 mile on the streets and run that...Ive got to agree with ^^^
Probably the stupidest thing I've heard today.
, whats he going to do take a stop watch and start and stop it while he's trying to go, and it will be cheaper just to go to the track for a day then pay fines, because the cops are always out, and if you dont think so then you aint been driving long enough.

Where im at the only cops in town and to help with 60 foot times or tuneup.
and i been driving very long the cops cant catch what the cant see besides they cant catch me driving a suv. but i agree drive where no one around or tale it to the track and its safer

That's a very good way to get yourself banned. :thumb:

I cant understand a word you're saying... cops to 60 foot times to tuneup to driving an SUV? ROFL

thanks for your input guys. and the evoIII is out of the question i just cant afford it since im in the middle of planning a wedding and looking for a house. So im prretty much limited to a used 14b or 16g. I have a couple of pms out and a couple replied to but im still not sure which would be most benificial. Is the small 16g worth 100 bucks more in terms of power gain?

Yes it is and for the long term chances are you will want more power and with a 14b you will not achieve as much as you could with a 16g with proper tuning

As far as your situation goes, i'd always go for something that i really wanted. Why spend money on something you're gonna get rid of later? Well this is the question that always plagues me when i have the bug to get something...

At the moment, i have a 16g in my car and i want to get a turbo that i could grow into, knowing that later on i'm going to get the supporting mods to have my car run to my goals. I want to get a FP3052, which would give me room to grow into and it's something that i really want.

If you have a particular goal you're going for, i'd say save and wait to get what you want rather than taking a longer, more expensive shortcut.

If a wedding is what is holding you back, maybe you should hold of on any purchases... Just thought to put that in, since I can relate.

Evo Big16G is my vote!

This is an excellent way of putting it. Especially the part of the agonizing before buying something: "Am I going to be replacing this in six months anyway?" With the mods you're looking at as you listed them, you'd probably be on the edge of the 14b's comfort level, but would run a 16g very well. If you can find a used EvoIII, I'm sure you'd be very happy with it for a longer time than you would if you choose a 14b.
