Alright I'm here to once again try to figure out the question I've kind of had ever since I bought the car. First of all ever since I bought my car, I've always had a feeling that it was slower then it should be and having a bad 2nd gear synchro didn't help that feeling either.
Now I don't have any fuel cut whatsoever, no stuttering or mis-firiring. Last time I did a compression test, I believe I was at 165 across (not even warmed up). Checked for play on the turbo and didn't notice any, doesn't spike either. I'm pretty sure I don't have any intake leaks, my vacuum reads -20 when warmed up and I'm not running a mbc right now but it gets up to 14psi. I'm still very new to cars so I wouldn't know where else to look, I mean I've changed my plugs and wires (NGK wires and BPR7ES @ .30), fuel filter, pcv valve, but nothing really yielded a difference.
Same with my mods, I never really noticed any difference. Also I'm sure my clutch is fine, it doesn't slip at all when at WOT...the only thing I can think of is adding a mbc (dual-stage didn't seem to work so going to get a single).
Anyways to the concrete evidence that my car is not running right is that the other day I ran my friend with a 2GB Talon:
Crushed 1G BOV
Hacked Dump Tube
MBC
Air Filter
Test Pipe
I drove it a couple days prior to racing him and it was like a whole different car, aside from the fact that his 2nd gear didn't grind...it pulled all the way up to 6k (mine dies out after 5k noticeably). Before I knew it I was doing 90mph.
Fast forward to this past Sat, we decided to run from 2nd gear (wonder why) at 40mph. We go out and get up to speed, I honk three times, and were off. Now it wasn't even a drivers race because before I barely even get to about 5.5k, he was already passing me, shift to 3rd and he was about two cars ahead. He shut down about three cars ahead of me. We did this once more with the same result.
My friend with a stock G35 decided he wanted to run my buddies 2G, so they do the same roll and the 2G stayed about 1/2 a car length up until about 4th gear when the G35 started pulling.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'm about ready to buy another car here.
