You guys honestly think that someone out of pure bordom and hatred for SBR just started whacking this thing with a hammer over and over again till it broke off perfectly with out a single hammer mark. I have been dealing with jsmux and he is an honest guy. I doubt one day he thought what he could do to try and make sbr look bad. Just understand your first batch of manifolds were garbage.

Please explain to us, your first hand experience with SBR manifolds, and why you claim they're garbage.

This thread is going to turn into a flame war :toobad:.

I've had the SBR cast manifold now for 4k and I love it. Working at a machine shop though, cast is brittle when you smack it, bump it, or just put something heavy on it. I'm not worried about the tiny 14b hanging off of it though. ROFL

A word about cast manifolds vs steel and heat cycles. Think of how long it takes cast to cool down versus steel. Steel dissipates heat rather quickly compared to cast. With that being said think of heating up and letting them cooling down; both manifolds continuously side by side with weight attached to them. I'd put my money on the cast lasting longer as opposed to the steel. As long as no one bumps it! But how many cycles are we talking here? Too many.

I had one and it only lasted a little over a year. I suggest you buy the fp manifold because sbr manifolds tend to crack. I have 3 cracks on mine and it leaked so bad the alternator would die on me. I have seen a post where lots of people shared there sbr manifold horror stories but I can't find it.

Its a fact that the first batch of there sbr mani's were bad. That is why they have given so many away free. That is all I was saying not trying to start flaming. I just think its stupid how everyone thinks this guy did this on purpose to stir the pot.

I wasn't trying to start anything just letting you know what has happened over here in canada to me and lots of people. I would also like to add there are guys running the sbr without problems. It's the same thing for regrind cams some say it only lasts a year but then there are guys running them for 4+ years without issues. This is why lots of guys are going with fp manifold. The fp is suppost to be indestructable and so far I have only heard good comments from everyone using this manifold and I can't find any bad comments about this manifold.

I had their 1st design without a WG provision. This lasted one summer & had 2 cracks about 1" long (well from what I could see externally). Used it for a second summer & removed it to throw in the scrap metal bin. The 2 cracks had turned into 6 or so & ranged from 1 to 4". Manifold wasn't even covered in rust year, so this should give you an idea of the amount of use. I have a buddy who bought the same mani at the same time as me & when we checked the top of his this past spring, there were no external cracks on it (though probably doesn't have 3K use on it yet).

The cracking was supposed to just be an issue with this first generation but I know of more then a couple guys running the second gen version with the WG provision that also had the cracking issue. But then again I also know guys that have this version & they don't have any cracks yet (well atleast not externally). These mani's seem to be hit & miss. I replaced my SBR mani with an evoIII & so far, so good. If price isn't a concern I too would recommend the FP race mani.

And - if the owner who did this brings to me and can look me in the eye and say it happened at the track, I will hand him a new one accross the counter and give him a hug.... shipping cost money, hugs are free.

You say this but what if he is right past his warranty. My brother had your 1st gen mani and it was cracked but we didnt notice till we took the heat shield off, and it was 2 weeks past the warranty. Of coarse you guys did not warranty it.

I have the 2nd gen of your mani's and its working fine. My brother liked what you guys said about your new mani so he took his chances and bought one. Now its right past the warranty again and guess what, its cracked!!!!! Again you wont warranty.

I understand this is business, but do you guys even test these mani's before release or do you just hope for the best. Shit my old 2g mani made it over 10 years and yours wont even make it two years. Some testing should be done expecially from a reputible shop like you guys. I would understand if this was ebay junk which Ive had last longer.

To the OP there manifolds are pretty much hit or miss. Mine works great, but as I said my brother didnt have my luck. I'm not trying to start anything with this but Im tired of slowboy reps on here talking down on someone because they had a bad issue with there product when it should be the opposite. Customer is always right, not the other way around.

Out of the 200 plus first generation manifolds without the WG provision - I think I saw one or two crack - both were replaced.

The first generation of SBR manifolds with WG provision had some issues, but not all of them - one of the runs of about 75 pieces (the best I can gather) they were not cooled down properly, or cooled down to quick (best explanation I can get). The foundry did not reimburse me one penny, but I have given at least that many new ones away free.

I also did not go flame the foundry, talk bad about them on a forum, or even file a BBB complaint - I just moved on to a new foundry.

The latest run of 350 manifolds (done about 12-13 months ago) have had ZERO issues, done at a new foundry in Erie PA. I pay a bit more for them, but they are working out great.

I am sorry about your brother - call me tomorrow I will send him a free one.

Cool?

FWIW, I had one of the first batch of manifolds with the WG boss, it cracked, and even though it was out of warranty, SBR made good on it. I didn't get a free new one but they were in my eyes, good about it.
