Steinbach,
Hey everyone, i was at the track this summer and i could only pull a 14.1 at about 92 mph. For what i had done to my car then i think i should have been running MUCH better. Any suggestions of what i could do to check some things and stuff to see what the problem bould be. Dont say boost leaks cause i test all the time and now i never have any. Also within the last month my car started smoking really really bad and all the time. I drive without going over 3000 rpm and it pretty much blinds the people behind me, would this be my turbo? im going to check for oil in my coolant tomorrow and see what the deal is there. And theres also one more thing. In summer on 2 different occasions, my temp gauge and then my oil pressure gauge decided to pack it in and call it quits. The oil temp gauge is all over the place and the temp gauge just sits there. Has anyone had this happen to them before? what can cause this and how can i fix it. Im almost at the point of just getting out of the dsm seen but i know i dont want to cause i love my car and know it can do way better then what it is. So all the help possilbe will be appreciated guys:thumb:

You still on stock turbo and injectors with no fuel management? If so then I don't think you'd see much better than 13.5 or so with your mods, awd or not, even with great driving. Course I'm not a track whore, so maybe someone else has better insight. But smoke is never good...what color?

I was on a e3 16g and e3 02 housing at the time at about 14 psi. All the mods i had then were, full exhaust, k an n , fmic, 2g mani, mbc. i have a safc 2 installed but its not in use yet. Im waiting until i get my 550s and wally 190 in to put it to use. BTW the smoke is kind of like a whitish blue i think not to sure its hard to tell. Another thing is i recently found out that the studs on my mani were broken, there were the two on the ends on both sides so that really could be hurting me but could it hurt me that much? I expected to run around a 13.5 and was kind of shocked that i could only pull a BEST of a 14.1

Umm.... learn to drive, pal!

yah thanks for the advice buddy:notgood: like why dont you come back when you have something useful to say. I was pulling 1.8 second 60 foots but the cars just not pulling like it should, its feels like a 14 second car and i know it shouldnt. But thanks alot for the comment:rolleyes:

1.8 60' and a 14.1? Must be god at launching. As far as the smoke goes, your turbo is most likely blown. If it smokes a little at idle then a lot as you get on it, it's blown. Why wait til tomorrow to check the oil for coolant? Take's two seconds to do. Also on stock injectors you aren't going to get more than mid-high 13's. You aren't going to run 12's on stock injectors. Most people think their car is fast until they take it to the track and get there slip.

Yeah especially with a 1.8 60' you should have cut at least high 90's. Got the timeslip so we can see what your 330' and 1/8th mile were. Might help with diagnosing your problem area's. Looks like lack of top end.

Just what I was thinking. Similar runs in the 1/4 times show 14.1's w/ 1.8 60' netted 95-96mph. Let's see that timeslip!

Just stating the obvious man... Dont get butt hurt with me. YOu could have a full blown AMS evo and still pull crappy times if you cant drive it.

my car pulled a 14.3 at best with the mods I have listed(21psi too). Found my j-pipe flange was bent to all hell and I had a major boost leak. At least it didn't cause drivability problems because of the maf, but then again, I didn't notice the leak because of the maf. She has 12's in her, and next season when all the repairs are done, thats what you guys will see.

either you need to become a better driver (practice) or your car is running poorly because of some unseen problem. Check for boost leaks, check the engine's compression, and keep trying.

1.8 60 ft times are pretty decent but i beleive this car can pull 1.7s . As far as running 12s on stock injectors or low 13s this is deffenetly possible. What octane of fuel was you running and how cold was the engine before the runs ? You have a logger what was your knock count.? A Fuel pump will defentliey help you . Id say you are starving for fuel! It is also possible you could have a bad headgasket due to the smoke. Youll have to pull the turbo intake pipe off and look for oil in the intercooler pipes . Far as a headgasket just check your oil and water to see if there are changes happening there. But i think those times are consistant with your mods due to lack of some good fuel pressure and thats really low boost to me 14 psi.

Well i was running on stock injectors and everything and would i could tell at higher rpms i was losing power due to not having enough fuel. Ill look for the time slip but im not so sure that i have it anymore, i thought my trap speed was horrible, cause my buddy with a silvia ran a 14 flat at 102, but he was just having major traction issues, and thats something that im not really afraid of. I ran on 94 octane, and i didnt have a logger hooked up at the time.

What is the altitude where you live. I live in the Rocky Mountains and have seen people loose almost a full 1/2 second or more in the 1/4 mile time from running it at sea level compared to above 6000 feet.

I have no idea of what the altitude is here. The time was in Gimlee Manitoba, on a rather warm day, but my ic didnt heat soak, its pretty big for what im throwing at it

yah i completly agree, but i also could be john shepard and have a car thats just not running properly.

hey i work as a technician at a chrysler jeep dealership. the smoke could be the head gasket or the turbo. and just by chance thats its the turbo, could it be possibly that having a leak could slow down the spool time of a turbo, thus giving you your time?

well now that my cars parked im gonna pull EVERYTHING apart, my turbos coming off and i pretty sure it will need to be rebuilt. Does anyone know what that goes for on a turbo like this. It was ported and clipped before i bought it, could that cause it to blow up easier? and another thing. I was wondering about my oil pressure and temp gauge cause they arent working now, where are the sensors on the motor for it and stuff, like does anyone have an idea to get them working again. Im gonna get a autometer oil pressure and temp but i just wanted it to be working because i just want to have it going cause that kind of stuff just gets at me any annoyes me

our cars have the oil pressure sensor on the oil filter housing. it looks like a bic circle w/ a single wire connector going to it. make sure that the wire is good and still intact. as for the temp sensor, there are 2( one on the thermostat housing which i believe its for the temp gauge considering its on the engine, and another in the bottom of the radiator which i think is for the ecu.):thumb:

Those broken mani studs will defentley hurt your time if there is air leaking around the mani gasket . It will cause delay in turbo spool and effeciency . It has the same effect to horsepower as does a boost leak get it fixed and tighten her down . It will be faster.

yah theres like a wire that came off of my oil filter housing its like a little plug and i have no idea where it goes. Does anyone have a pic of the line so i can see if thats it, it looks like it should plug into something but i cant find where it goes, and can someone post a pic of the thing for the temp gauge, cause im pretty sure if its the one im thinking of then mine got broken because my ic piping blew off and broke something. Some pics would make things awesome right now. Thanks for all the support guys:thumb:
