So my problem is that my drivers side power window moves slow and eventually can't even go up without the assistance of my hand pulling it (had this problem for a long time now). I took it apart about a month ago and it's already getting stuck again. What I did was took the door apart, pulled out the window, cleaned out the slider rails, cleaned the window, lubricated the slider rails and the sides of the window. I put it all back together and it worked great up until now.

Has anybody else had this problem and fixed it for good? As long as I've owned the car the passenger side window has never had any issues. About a year ago I replaced the drivers side window motor (because I thought that was the problem) so I know that's not what's wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

On my 1gb, I had a bent window rail. (not sure how it happened... it was that way when I got the car.)

I would lube the rail up, and it would work for a couple weeks without any issues, but eventually, it would start binding up again. I ended up replacing the entire door after a deer ran into the car. so I cant really help on a specific how to on the replacement.

Not sure if 1g is the same as 2g, but on my 2g I just fixed a problem that sounds very similar to yours. There was a metal bracket on the front bottom that has a piece of plastic inside it. This held the "arm" on the rail.

My plastic broke and everything just rattles around and needs to be pulled up by hand or it binds. My friend's car has the same issue. Replace the bracket and adjust all the other bolts that probably loosened up due to the issue and you should be good.

I checked everything very thoroughly, nothing was bent or broken. This time I really went the distance to take everything apart, clean it and lubricate. I also have read some where that in some cases the metal contacts underneath the switch can become corroded or burned.

I pulled out the slider rail rubber inserts, cleaned them very well and lubed 'em up. I also pulled out the motor/regulator assembly and lubed that was well.

In the first picture you can see the metal contact for my window switch was a little burned, but I cleaned that up and slightly sanded it

Put it all back together and as you can see from the video the window works pretty good now, but we'll see if it last...

So I guess I will mark this thread as resolved. My window has been working great for almost a month now with no signs of slowing down :thumb:

Mine has a similar problem but I know it's the tracks. I pulled the regulator tonight and I could barely move the window by itself. A little wd-40 did the trick, but I've cleaned mine out many times in the past. I think the rubber run is just old and needs to be replaced
