Slip in 2nd Gear

I am not sure what is going on. When I am under full acceleration in 2nd gear it will feel like the clutch slips. This happens around 4k rpm and only for a split-second before it goes back to normal and continues working it's way up. The reason I am not sure it is the clutch is because of the fact that it only happens for a very small amount of time and I don't even have to let off the pedal to get it to go back to normal. Also the clutch was replaced only 60k miles ago and it has never been abused. And I guess the fact it is only in 2nd makes me think it's not the clutch too, wouldn't this be happening in every gear under full acceleration if it was? And for a longer amount of time? It doesn't bother me I just want to make sure this is not a problem with the engine. Or if it is what can I do to try and fix it? Thanks

Doesn't sound like an engine problem. Sounds more like what you suggest: a clutch problem. It seems, however, that it should be slipping in 1st if its slipping in 2nd. It may not slip in 3rd or higher gears because they are too high. But, it should definitely slip in 1st if its slipping in 2nd. Maybe you are not feeling it slip in 1st since 1st is such a low gear and you are in it for a split second. That's possible.

This post makes no sense. I think he means the opposite of what he said. Most cars I test drive with a slipping clutch start to slip in the higher gears before they ever slip in first or second.

That is a strange problem though. Maybe you need beadlocks on your tires? Are you over 1000hp?

It sounds like the clutch to me. But check your trans make sure you got the correct amount of fluid..

The car is stock and I don't know what kind of clutch was put in. I am going to replace the fuel filter this weekend and see if that works. It feels like it could just be a simple fuel cutoff. That's what I'm hoping anyway. And I have noticed the problem in 3rd too but I don't really floor it in 4th so I wouldn't know about 4th or 5th. Thanks for the responses guys

Its not fuel cut. Fuel cut is like your car is completely shutting off for a second. It cuts off the fuel hence fuel cut. When you have fuel cut you'll hear your bov go off and the rpm's will drop and your car will kinda jerk. Its kinda scary the first time it happens if you dont know what it is and it will definately get your attention. Its not just a slight lack of power. Your problem probably has something to do with the clutch.

Wouldn't the RPM's jump up if it was clutch slippage? The RPM's go down then up than maybe down again then it starts to accelerate like normal. Maybe a better word for it would be a "stutter". I have read that maybe it could be a boost leak but the turbo seems to run strong, it will hold boost right where it should be and for as long as I am on the gas a decent amount.

Thank Christ, it was only spark plug wires. Thing runs like a champ now!
