When my car is at mid-rpm's in higher (3+) gears and under load, when I accelerate I feel a slight surge in power delivery almost like you are letting off gas for a split second repeatedly. It is not evident in lower gears. It will do this every time the car goes up a hill of any grade. Its very odd. Any help will be appriciated.

Not allot of symptoms to go by, but I would start with a complete tune up. Plugs wires, fuel filter etc. Then doublecheck the timing and ignition. If it only does it slightly and only when going up hills, it might be something a dealership has to check out. Assuming the check engine light is not on. If it is, you need to get the code and troubleshoot from there...

good luck :thumb:

Sorry, a little background. The car has been doing this since I bought it about a year and a half ago. Since then I have had the headgasket, water pump, all timing components, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, pcv system and a couple of other minor things replaced by the dealership here (about 10K miles ago). No check engine light present. Also when it does this I tend to smell gas when slowing or when window down but not all the time. I have had a mystery gas smell that I have smoke tested the fuel system at the filler neck and at the evap canister that i cant find to save my life.

Here is a good article on something that might be related.
At least it mentions something about the gas smell.
It's mostly an idle thing, but read it entirely, it could be related to what you are expriencing..

Otherwise you might need something like a datalogger to help you figure it out. I've never used one but there is allot of info out here on them.

Good Luck!

Just noticed you have an N/T, so the link may or may not apply.

But the datalogger should still be helpful.

Did you have the injectors replaced? It could be dumping too much gas in. What did the plugs look like?

Injectors were not replaced and I have no idea what the plugs looked like. The dealership did all those repairs ($1400 worth) but didnt get alot of info as to their condition. I may end up doing a turbo upgrade because I have all the parts needed but I wanted to get this taken care of first so I dont blow it up.
Thanks for the info though. You've been a great help. I posted this about 6 months ago and go no responses.
