when i first start my car and go to put in 1st, if you dont do it just right it will grind. and if the tranny is still kinda cool if i go to slam 2nd it sometimes grind. i usually pull up at lights and put it in first before i stop rolling just so i dont have to deal with it. i went to metal cnc'd bushings and it helped a little but not really........ could the clutch b going out or are the gears about to go? thanks guys (and girls if they answer)

i sounds like a synchro problem in the tranny...very common for our cars...a lot of people switch to Royal Purple Syncromesh or BG Syncroshift trans fluid and it seems to help...otherwise you might need a rebuild...how old is the clutch?

Rebuild.
Or, tap second before going into first, and shift more slowly into second. Double-clutch your downshifts.
Pennzoil (GM) Synchromesh helps in some cases. It's the same product, but GM gets three times what Pennzoil does for it.
