Shiloh,
I am going for a fast "sleeper" car, and I am looking into buying exhaust for my car. I want a full 3" exhaust, but the real problem I'm running into is finding a system for an AWD that has a muffler that looks stock (the dual tip) as part of the package. I found one from Borsal, but it was for a 2g. Doe anyone have any suggestions? Or am I going to have to go to an exhaust shop to pull this one off.

Magnaflow makes several style mufflers that look near stock, IE 2.5 inch duel tips. A little bit bigger than stock but still not like the 3.5 and 4 inch tips that are common for exhaust systems on our cars.

Could always get the piping and get a muffler from the shop. Alot of muffler shops carry magnaflow now.

As far as the sound, well its going to be louder (Especially with 3 inch piping) thats just the way it goes. Try using a resonator will help alot but its still going to be louder than a stock system.

no no you want a true sleeper exhaust , guys what that site that has the exhaust that you can open and slow ???? that thing is perfect if you want a true sleeper. some post site if they know it

i run a dynomax ultraflow on mine and with a set of single in dual 3" out tips from hooker it retains a fairly stock look to it. it doesn't fit perfectly and later on i might re-do the piping to make it 100% the way i want it.

you can see here it hangs just a little too low. about 1 inch higher and i'd be perfectly happy with it, but i have noone to blame but myself here i guess.

Why not just put a muffler in plcae of the cat. take the stock muffler cut it open then cut the inlet to fit a 3" pipe then hollow the muffler out and weld it back together then put it on, it may not be quite but it will look stock, people will think you just have an exhaust leak or something.

If you want a true sleeper then the Qtec is the way to go. You could have a muffler that looks exactly like the stock, but it will still be loud. The guy next to you is going to know that you have exhaust. With the Qtec you can just get a bitchin' DP and keep the stock cat back. When its go time you open it up and have all kinds of flow. I have pics of my sleeper muffler on my FWD car. Ill post them when I get home.

Right.
They have that option on their webpage. Once your going to order I think they have it there also but IF not just call Ryan or email them about it.

Thanks for the info, I looked at rnr before, but I didnt see that option, but you said thats only possible when ordering? is there an extra cost or what?

Remus dual tip is the ultimate sleeper exhuast. Sound is quiet below 4k... and from there on it sounds like a ferrari... Oh yea, the dual tip looks like a stock 1g dual tip muffler... only cleaner... BMW, Mercedes guys swear by them... Do a search on ebay. They aint cheap, but you get what you pay for, and in this case I think it is worth it.

Are you talking about the dual wall tips? I always thought that just meant the tip was like thicker and higher quality? Maybe I'm wrong. Or maybe I'm just lost all together. .

P.S. Sorry I hi-jacked your thread

:EDIT: Maybe pics would help my question. The first pic is a magnaflow double wall tip. Is that the same as a dual wall? The second is a single walled tip. See the difference? I'm so confused. .

they make universal mufflers in the same styles as whats there u can buy any muffler then do ur own custom piping. www.remus.com is the official site, i think its in german with an english version or somtin along that line

Well yah but he wants a whole exhaust. I don't think a remus muffler on the end of will turn his custom exhaust into a ferrari sound. Plus they probaly use restrictive sizes and mufflers that work good for N/A cars. Not the see through 3" "trash cans" we love :p

Yeah I am sort of going for a buy a whole system with the muffler idea, and I also thought that the dual wall tip muffler meant that the muffler wall was thicker (made to be quieter/deaden the sound?) and not a dual tip per se. I would just buy a universal muffler and have an exhaust shop weld the pipes to it, but none of the universal mufflers i've seen have a 3" inlet, they are all 2.5". on top of that, if I had a shop do the cat to the muffler, there is no guaruntee that they would be able to get their pipes to mate with a downpipe that wasn't theirs without necking the pipes down.
