I've done some resurch on doing a 2.4 build and all the info I'm finding goes into building up the block with custom this and bored over that. II dont really care about all of that. My plan is to just take a stock 4g64 block out of a galant and slap a 4g63 head on it and something small like a 16g and go with it. I know I need to plug the holes in the block. But here are my questions. Has anyone done this? What t belt do I use? and are there any problems lining up the timing marks? Also I plan do use all 7 bolt stuff so I can keep my crank sensor.

you can use a 4g63 timing belt and grind off a bit of the tensioner arm, you'll most likely need adjustable cam gears because timing will be off close to 7.5 degree's.

So I picked up a 4g64 from a 97 spyder this past weekend. Pulled the head and rod caps and found nothing wrong with it. The crank has a little bit of thrust play. What should normal thrust play be at? Also can I use my 7bolt 4g63 oil pan? Does anyone have a pic of the dohc 4g64 timing gears? Do they have the same amount of teeth on them as 4g63 cams?
