Nothing came up in search so I'm gonna ask, I am actually asking for a friend of mine but he doesn't have a DSMtuners account.

so.

He's needs a new head on his 93 Talon ESI, and he's wondering if you could put a 4G64 Head on a 4G63, I know you can put a 4G63 Head on a 4G64 Block so can it work the other way too???

DOHC 4g64 heads are hard to find, as they were only on the 94 Galant GS. The right head should be easy to find as they were used on a Hyundais as well. If he just has bent valves, buy new SS valves on ebay for $100 and have the head redone for another $100; it's a lot better than chancing it with a used head.

I was talking about ANY 4G64 head on a 4G63 block. SOHC 8 Valve, SOHC 16 Valve, DOHC 16 Valve, doesn't matter, will any of them work, and no that's not the reason why.

He just really wants to do a 4G64 Head on a 4G63 Block, because Like me, he hates doing what everyone else would do on there cars.

also, I know he would not settle for ebay parts trust me, that'd be like a kick to the face for him, and I wouldn't settle for them either.

So he wants to LOSE performance just to be different? An 8-valve head will lower the compression a good amount, and ANY SOHC head will flow less than the DOHC head does. You have to figure out how to mount the CAS, get the T-Belt to fit, etc. Just put a Geo Metro 3-cylinder in the car then, at least you'll gain gas mileage while losing performance. This is a worse idea than your other thread, are you just messing around seeing what people will say or what?

I was saying 4G64 Head IN GENERAL.

I didn't say he was gonna slap any old 4g64 head on there.

Yes you said any 4g64 head. Just any old head WILL hurt performance. ANY 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, 2.4 Sirius engine head with the t-belt on the left side should fit the block, but that doesn't mean it won't take fabricating or miss-matching parts to get the rest of the stuff bolted on. I don't know why I'm on any of your threads, every one you become a flamer; it's ridiculous, uncalled for, and funny all at the same time.

If you are talking about a 4g64 DOHC head from the rare galants, yes but it will not have the extra oil drain holes. The 4g64 DOHC head and 4g63t DOHC heads are almost exactly the same

If you are talking about the SOHC head from the 4g64 then answer is also yes but you will need to cover some oil drain holes on the head side. Switching to the SOHC will change the torque curve and make it easier to get equal amounts of HP and torque. Using the DOHC you HP will always lead the torque. I prefer the SOHC for daily driving.

Thanks for giving a straight Answer.

Hey goof off,
If you find the dohc 4g64 head, Dont forget to swap off the 4g64 camgears to the 4g63's I beleive they will have an extra tooth.

P.S. Your a racist POS

Racist bullshit stops now. Bans forthcoming if you're too ignorant to quit.

LOL probably doesn't even have 60 whp. I would think that a 2.0 would be well under 100 whp also considering the 2.4 with sohc head only makes about 100 whp/tq
I drove a 1.8 SOHC Talon once, and I'd rather drive just about anything. One of the deadest contraptions I've ever driven. A fake dyno sheet laying on the seat wouldn't have changed my opinion either.

They don't have an extra tooth, that's impossible because you can't have an odd amount of teeth and expect the engine to run. The timing marks are just moved 1/2 tooth to make up for slightly different positioning of the longer timing belt on the taller block.

AH...
So vise versa when I go to put a 4g63 head on a 4g64 block, the timing marks are just moved half a tooth on the gears? So some simple whiteout for timing marks will work just fine

I've never seen them (DOHC 4g64 gears) myself but I'm thinking it's actually that the gears are turned different, not necessarily just the marks themselves -- like the dowel pin hole is moved to turn them 1/2 tooth. If this is in fact the case, the 4g63 cams would just be retarded that 1/2 tooth giving you a bit more hp, or you could retard the exhaust and advance the intake, or however you want them off that 1/2 tooth. Sorry for the confusion with my other post above. I think 1 tooth should be 7.5 degrees, so 1/2 would be 3.75 degrees.
