Sherwood Park,
What are your thoughts on each on these two coiler overs? The Skunk2 are about $100 cheaper but if the Ground Conrol's are built that much better and worth the extra $100 then I don't mind paying it.

I wouldn't get those coil overs. If you want to get coil overs get the ones with the shocks built into them. They cost a lot more but they won't rattle like mine. I have the skunk 2s on my 95 GSX, and I don't like them. The ride is now very very bumpy. I mean you can literally feel every bump. You can also hear them rattle a lot. I'm going to buy a set of eibach springs and get them installed. Good luck

I have the Ground Controls, and they do what they're supposed to. Not fancy, but work well. They have Eibach springs and Koni Yellow's in them. They're normally quiet, but jumping the car while rallying results in horrendous sounding clanks when the car gets back on the ground, and with the Koni's at full stiff, some clanking can be heard under extreme conditions on very rough pavement. I don't remember it doing that until after I raised it to the highest ride height possible (for rally).

My friend has a set of ground control coiloverswith no problems with rattling.

i also have the gc on my car. the only problem is that the car will rise up off of one spring pearch (usually the rear) when i come up a sharp incline at an angle (see gas station entry). a 'tender' (sp?) spring would solve the problem, but is usually not part of a 'coil-over kit', and is usually found on the upper end price of the shock/spring combo. the 'tender' spring keeps the upper ring/pearch in the rear loaded so it does not come off the upper 'seat'. however, for the price the gc setup is great for a street /occaisional track car. have not had experience with the skunk setup, but i would compair the spring rates and go with the higher one if you plan on lowering alot. and i do not know about now, but when i got my set from gc, thier spring were made by eibach.

I wouldn't get coil overs unless you plan on racing more than joy riding. Coil overs are ultra stiff. At first you think they are tolerable but if you ever plan on taking a long trip you are gonna be feeling it big time. My girl constantly complained after the install of GC's. I kept them on for 3 months before I broke down and went back to Eibach Pros.

Coilovers themselves are not ultra stiff, it depends on the spring rates. Pro-kits don't ride as harsh because the spring rates are not that much higher than stock.

As far as the rear springs on the GC's jumping off of the perch, tender springs will help alleveiate that. I have hypercoil tender springs on the back, cost me like $25 each. Another solution would be to get longer springs depending on how much the car is lowered. Mine came with 6" springs and I have the car at stock height, so the springs were basically too short.
