Since I am getting a datalogger, is only a boost gauge sufficent?

I know the 2 basic necessities for boost are boost and egt. Well, i have a datlogger on the way and if i can save some money by not getting the egt gauge, id like too. I know the datalogger wont tell me egt's but my afc will tell me knock count and the datalogger will give me other indications if im running lean so i think the egt will be overkill. Am i right?
Thanks in advance.

when ya find out what that is ? inform the rest of the DSM world.

ya still need EGT if ya got logger. logger / afc / etc dont tell ya EGT's
but im gathering you want to be cheep and not get all the saftey stuff. Do you plan on Running the logger 24/7 ?
So there is no point in arguing :D get what YOU think you need

Yes, the afc2 reads knock on obd1 dsm's. No, i dont plan on running the datalogger all the time, but i don plan on running it most of the time. And im not looking to be cheap; however, there is such a thing as overkill, if possible id like to get the car well tuned and leave it alone until i add something that would require retuning. The egt wont be used for tuning and higher egt reading would require use of the datalogger to determing rich or lean anyways. So i guess im looking for one good reason i need the egt gauge.

EGT is your early warning system . its the first sign that somthin is REALLY wrong. ( why you tap the #1 runner, farthest down the fuel rail = most deprived injector )
as far as afc reading knock... ive never heardof it... but i am also 2g. only way to get knock sums are with dsmlink etc. not a plain ol' datalogger
