I want a turbo that will give me some decent top end..

I can hang w/ every turbo honda I've ever raced till about 60-70 but then my boost falls out WAYY before redline. I got a T25 now with decent supporting mods but I was wondering if a s16g holds boost to redline better then a 14b?

I'm sick of turbo's that choke when I slam it into 3rd gear. I was gona buy a 14b but I heard its the same problem with a little more punch and efficiency.

The reason you lose at 70+mph has nothing to do with your small turbo. That's just when the Hondas finally hook up and go.ROFL Funny but true, unfortunately.

But to answer your question. Yes a s16g or evo 16g will be good for oyu They'll hold plenty of boost until redline, often alot more than desired (i.e. boost creep LOL).

I have a 14b in my 92 TSi and it spools 12lbs up and thru redline and it has a lot of miles on it, I havn't had any complications with it losing boost when nearing redline. Hope that helps, maybe try a MHI EVO 3 16G, with a port job, and port your 2G exhaust mani. The 16G will will push more boost, and still have the responsive spool because its not a monster snail. Other minor mods will be nessisary.

One thing you need to do is learn how to drive. The car shouldn't "peter out" at 70mph. The car should be quick up to about 110-115mph without any problem. Just shift the damn thing at about 5500-6K from 3rd on, that'll get you well past 70mph. The T25 just makes noise after about 5500rpm.

But yea, a 16G will hold boost to redline if set up properly.

I'm a big supporter of the 16g, probably since it's the only other turbo besides the T-25 I've ever had on my car. It spools quickly and pulls until redline. It's amazing the difference between the 16g and the T-25. If you're on a budget the 14b is cheaper, and it has shown some good numbers too.

trust me driving isnt a problem.. I had a lid, DR's 00 LS1 T/A and drove it to a 12.6 ;-)

I shift at 6k when in 3rd and 4th..

thanks for the story and the motivation but unfortunately the few hondas I've raced have been nasty to say the least.

Single cam built motor with a .57 trim (355whp)

LS motor (dont know to much about) saw dyno sheets and talked to the guy for a while it was a dc teg that put down 270whp and he still beat me.

and the kicker is I stick with these people till sometimes 70 (from a 20roll) but then the T-25 wants to roll over dead. So moral of the story is I want a supra style pull from 60+ because where I'm from (tampa) everybody is trapping 120+ and I want to be able to keep up.

I'll list my mods in a sec

U/D pulley
hard uicp
1g bov crushed
K&N w/ 2.25 mandrel bent intake pipe
Joe P MBC
walboro 255
autometer phantom boost gauge
solid motor mounts
3in SS d/p
3inch turbo back w/o cat and big mouth muffler
etc..

Well by looking at your mod list i can already see a problem. If you are running a 255 without a fpr, then you will overrun the stock fpr and could cause you to run rich.

Also you have to think that when you race a honda if you dont have more then you more than likely wont win( as usual assuming its done right) They have a lot higher compression stock than our cars and they are lighter. But also their motors have top end limits and boost limits that you dont see with the 4g63.

You can go with a 16g, big or evo3, and you should see some better results. If you want supra power then get this. It wont even start to spool untill 6,000rpm.

Then again you could just get a 14b/16g and get some nitrous.

t25 is junk! Personally any DSM with t25 = slow. I'm sure I could be proven wrong, but just the general consensus of what I've seen.

It looks like you have all the supporting mods for a big turbo. I would recommend an AFPR like osmeone mentioned for that walboro FP you have. And obviously you will need to upgrade your injectors. I would do some reading and research here before finally deciding what turbo you want to upgrade to. If you are talking about "supra-like" pulls I would think bigger than any form of the 16g turbo.

Why in this day would you consider a 14B or a small 16G for your 2G??

MHI Evo3's can be had for less than $550 and you can get the Evo3 GT with a 2g install kit for less than $750.

I just don't get it.

Most 16Gs, 14Bs, even 20Gs won't hold 28psi all the way to redline. 50-trims (Green) definitely do. So that is my suggestion. :thumb:

EVO GT is a hit or miss turbo...and it's usually a miss. There's been numerous threads on here where they failed to operate.

Yeah, I've read ALOT of these threads on them, here and on dsmtalk. I've done so much research on them and still can't seem to find a straight answer. It seems people either love them or hate them. I'm not gonna say either because I've never owned one, so I won't try to talk them up or down. I'll be upgrade to one of them in the near future and just trying to see how people like them. I read this one long thread where a vendor said that he's had numerous people have problems with the MHI Evo 3 16g, and then not one person has had a problem with all the Evo 3 GTs he's sold............he could be lying, I dunno. It's all about the money, one way or the other.

Why not get a FPBig28 from extremepsi.com? It ran a 11.8 on a gsx. Similar spoolup to T25, capable of like 300ish hp, stock looking...hell I know I'll be getting one soon. And don't forget no hassle with install kits for 16g or 14b on 2g. Install kits are like 230 bucks and 16gs like 550 now? thats just 20 bucks shy of a T28 LOL. Just my advice though.

The t28 Im sure is a good turbo but when you can get an e316g for 300$ less I dont see why you would buy a t28.It flows less air.It is highly unlikely you would run 11s with a t28.I know you will say it bolts right up.You can get a 16g to bolt up pretty easy without buying a 300$ install kit.You only need a oil feed line and return and j-pipe.

For the original poster if you want supra like pulls and 120mph traps your gonna need a little more than a 16g.

BigT-28 or MHI Evo16g would most likely solve your problem. they are nice turbos that keep stock apearance.
Also i didnt wanna believe the fuel pressure thing until i got my gauge in...

After that i put the car in the garage and waited until i got the new regulator built and put in.
