Should this cause no compression?

Like some of you may already know, my engine took a turn on me couple Wednesdays ago. Come to find out I had no compression in cylinder 2 and 3. Well after finally getting the passenger axle out the way (broke it should i say) I decided to pull the head. I also checked base timing before doing so and to my surprise it was spot on. I finally get the head off (which is kinda hard for doing it by myself being 5'5" and the car being jacked up LOL) and I found this:


Would this cause there to be no compression in 1 and 2?

Not to be an ass but i mean look at it... of course that would cause very little to no compression.. thats a huge ass hole the air is escaping from.

Check and make sure your surfaces are in spec and if they are, replace the head gasket.
 
Well you are being an ass LOL jk, but yea I thought that but I always ask on here to confirm. I have OCD. So it's like I have to hear from someone else too. But yea I'm not worried about it because I'm building a 6 bolt block as we speak and just wanted to see if this was the culprit. Because on the way to the track a couple Wednesdays ago my car took a turn and I did a compression test a couple days later and found zero compression in 2-3. I thought bent valves so I immediately started ordering parts to do my build because I was like F it, might as well do it now! And today I found that the gasket was like that and I think I might have just replaced the gasket if I knew but now it's too late LOL. Already spent 4300 in a week. Thanks though.

Haha yeah i was joking, but damn! $4,300 before even knowing what was wrong?? Hope you learned your lesson :thumb:. You should always take things apart to see the damage before trying to buy parts LOL
 
Yea but I wanted to build a block anyways. I knew my stock 7 bolt wasn't going to put up with much more abuse. I was running it hard daily at 22psi flowing 46.8lbs/min and it had 143,000ish miles on it. And I had a 6 bolt block and wanted to do the swap and build it at the same time, so it's like a lose win situation. And now I can do a wire tuck and relocate things to clean up the engine bay a little. Wish me luck LOL.
