Im thinking about running 110 or maybe even 112 octane in my car this weekend at the track. just wondering if this will give me more horsepower thats gonna be noticeable and if i need to retune it?
MODS: mhi Evo III big 16g, dsmlink, 1050 FIC's, walbro 255, AEM afpr.

the reason that i want to run this octane is 1...i heard i could make more power and 2...i heard that it would show knock less

Yes, you're right. You can give the car more timing and/or run higher boost than you can with pump gas while resisting knock much better as well. As a result you are able to make more power.:thumb: And of course you should retune for it though.;)

Have you thought about running E85?

Yes, defently retune & turn up the boost if you plan on running higher octane. If your normal tune is knock free, then just adding higher octane fuel won't have any performance gains, it will actually make the car slower. You need to add more boost, run more timing & leaner air/fuel ratios to take advantage of the higher octane value.

I thought about running E85 but i'd have to order a 55 gallon drum and this is my DD so thats out of the question.
Im currently running 18 psi...a/f at WOT is 12.5...timing is like 15 at WOT i think....

This logs a run from 1st to part of 4th if it'll help...
So if i just leave it at 18 psi its not gonna help very much to run 110 octane?

alright... so im definitly gonna buy some race gas tomorrow, but ive got a few more questions if anyone knows the answers... Is c16 gonna be any better than 110 octane? On dsmlink is it possible to save my current tune and just load up another setting for race gas, life save my current tune so i can load it after i put 93 back in it?

C16 is 116 octane, so yes, it will be a bit better.

As long as you have a log with the 93 tune settings, just open that log and click Save All to ECU and those 93 settings will be back on your ECU. Then any logs you take with the race gas settings can be opened up at a later point and reloaded back into the ECU.
