should I get this thermometer?

I've got the milwaukee m12 batteries already and wondered what kind of auto applications this would have. never used one. do you just point it on a surface and get a reading? I've wondered if our cars are supposed to run hot ### every time I open my hood i'm shocked at the heat. would this tool be something useful in checking various temperatures? have any of you used one for any automotive purposes? thanks

For a person working on different cars daily than yes that would be a good tool yes. For you no. If your car isn't overheating than it isn't running too hot pretty simple.

By a cheap $30 harbor freight one. It maxes out at like 600 but its rare that you will find something that hot without the car running.
