Should I consider this talon?

What do you think? Ran a car fax and it came back good with correct mileage etc. , Saw it this week body is in good condition along with interior. Clean car to start with, i wont pay what he is asking but Couple questions though.....

1. It was produced July of 1991 (would that make it a 6 bolt)?
2. Fuel pump is loud when signal is on (re-wire i suppose)?
3. Oil all over the place, he says it is from the breather, it is all over from head to toe could it be the breather?
4. Ac is cold, but blower sounds like it is going to take off?


What are your thoughts?

It is hard to find a clean 1g in the northeast. I know it is pricey, but before i insult him with a low ball, do you think it is a 6bolt?

1. yeah, it's a 6 bolt
2. fuel pump being loud when signal is on means nothing. Fuel pump noise fluctuating in time with the signal instead of steadily droning means you need a rewire
3. lots of oil all over the place could mean a lot of things. I would start with a compression test to rule out excessive blow-by and then start hunting for leaks

Shit, I don't know man. Thats a ton of money for a slightly modded 1g even if it is clean. The oil all over the place would concern me. I have a vented VC with the little air filter thing and hardly any oil comes out of it. Maybe the dipstick has been popping out?

It should be a 6bolt/4bolt if its an early 92.

I didn't notice the dip popping out. What should the compression be around?

The oil everywhere could be a bad valve cover gasket. Those things can make a mess when they start leaking. I agree it is way overpriced.

if it was running correctly that would a fair price. I would just offer him that price minus everything that needs to be fixed. And of course a compression test.

I know it doesnt mean much, but i got a super clean 2g awd talon for $800. Needs a new auto tranny. I got a beat up but mechanically strong 2g awd for 2300. Granted it took me 2 years of looking to find them both. But i got 2 2g for less then half of that??? BB and NADA value for a 96 awd in super clean condition is 2.6k Think about it.
