Should I buy this car?

Its an 92 Eclipse with 1.8l Auto, only thing that doesnt work is the transmission, his wife was going down the road and the tranny just stopped engaging. Everything else is perfect, and the price is $250 bucks for it.
So should I get it and get the tranny either replaced or rebuilt or search for problems that arent as bad ? How much would the tranny rebuild/replacement cost me? I cant do tranny work myself, and I only want to use this for a daily driver for reliablity and mileage (Im just going to lower it with some neons, muffler and wheels)
So would this be worth it? Im willing to invest atleast 700 more bucks if not more to get it working. The car hasnt been ran hard either, and also is it a 4 lug or 5? Ive got wheels off my old cavalier I could put on mabey but the hubcaps are covering it.

i'd personally wouldn't go for it since it's not turbo'ed. Don't try to make the car look fast if you can't back it up....

For only $250 I would buy it, fix it.. Make profit on it, Or.. Buy it and part it out.

If you want fuel efficiency, you do not want an auto. If you are not doing the tranny work yourself, then ask this question, "What is a running 4G37 auto worth to me?"

Figure out what you would be willing to spend on a running automatic equipped 1.8 DSM and subtract the cost of a new tranny and install time. Once you have that figure, subtract $250 (purchase price).

You will come to a negative number, which is not a mistake, as a $250 1.8 DSM with a burnt auto is worth less than your shoes.

Im not worried about this I already got my other car for that I just need a good daily driver.

Well Im also not going for re-sale value, I'd probably keep this car, Im not going to be beating on it, and Im not worried about the manual/auto transmission cause at most its a 1-3 miles per gallon when it comes to it.
I will try and sell it for mabey 2-400 more then I paid for it when I get it all working and if I dont sell it no biggie.
