Im looking for a reliable daily and saw this and it looks to be in good condition but i will be checking it out later today... I've already brought him down to $3200 over the phone but will see how much further i can get him...

**Super Clean Eclipse**

I have no intentions of modding it at all, maybe just get it lowered but thats it, so knowing that do you guys think its worth it and could it be a good daily...?

Thanks for looking..!!

Yeah thats what i was kinda figuring, taking $3k cash when i meet with him and offer him $2800 on the spot and move up to $3k if i really like it.... How does that sound..?

I already have a decently modded 98 gsx, so im not looking for anything boosted its just not what im looking for...

Also does anyone have input on the gas mileage on these 420a motors...? Like how much normally to fill up and mpg...?

Very nice car, looks very well kept. My only concern is the automatic transmission, chrysler autos are known to not be the best. I daily drove my GS for years with the only major issue being a headgasket failure. IIRC, the gas mileage was round 27 city and 30 highway, I remember it being pretty decent on gas.

Honestly i have bought and sold quite a few cars on craigslist his price that hes asking is more than its worth we all know that and so does the seller too. You go there with 3k cash. Look at the car inspect it in full detail throw out some meaningless flaws that arnt crazy but you can hipe them up. Then offer him something you think he'll laugh at in this case like $2300. The guy will laugh or take it then offer like 2500, and last like 2700 if he doesnt bite for 2700 tell him your all set and start leaving. He will either give it to you or let you go if he lets you go grab something to eat and he'll call you back or call him and offer 3k final.

I hope that helps

My wife's PT Cruiser turbo (similar tranny to the 420a) had a transmission failure at 42k miles. We purchased upgrades and had it rebuilt locally, the transmission now has more miles than the stocker did without any issues. If you are ok with having to rebuild it at some point, this would be a good choice. The best part is that if you do the maintenance, you'll have a good looking daily driver that is paid off.

NO NO NO NO Don't buy that car 140,000 miles!!!!!!! On a 420a motor I've been there and done that. it was a bad move on my part things just start to go down hill, that may be why they are selling it. I just got my gst for $800 and 80,000 miles in better condition then that car. keep looking.

i spent 4700 on my gsx but it needed hubs all the way round, and i did not make it an hour and lost the slave cyl. all in all, it's clean so drive it and if it checks out pick it up.

I tore my motor down at about 150,000 miles when i rebuilt for boost, and all my clearences checked out very very well. The car was not modded at all when I got it and the previous two owners didn't beat on it and kept up with all the maintenaince. So, if the car wasn't beat and they kept up with the maintenaince, I would say go for it.(Even though it is Auto). As far as gas, with my current setup I get 32mpg on the highway.
