Should I Buy a GS then add a tubo or buy GSX/ GST?

I was wondering whether i should buy a stock turbo or add it with an after market turbo system?

If you were to take cost into consideration, you would save a ton of money in the long run just buying the gst\gsx for the extra 2,500-3,500. Also i dont know very much about the 420a turbo kits , but if you were to fall out of love with it ( and the thousands of dollars it takes to make it work ), and want to do a turbo motor swap ( 4g63 ) it would cost you even more in the long run.

I suggest finding a nice, clean, un-modified gst\gsx with decent miles on it and a 5-speed. ( This is getting more uncommon, but they are out there )

Since you are starting from scratch it would be cheaper for you to buy a GS-T. A proper turbo kit for the 420A is at least $3,000 and even then if you want to really turn up the boost you would have to do a full engine rebuild to make the internals strong enough to handle it.

A 4G63 is just better suited to the task of being boosted so you might as well buy a car that has one in it already.

What they said is true when it comes to a 2g. If you want to get a non turbo 1g and turbo it is a lot easier to do. That is of course if you get the 2.0 and not the 1.8.

a GST is not cheaper than a GSX. It all depands on who you are buying it from! I got my 93 tsi AWD for $2200 and I am the 3rd owner of the vechile and it has 95k original miles on it. All leather, great car. Just shop around and you will find the right dsm. dont listen to all this gst, tsi's are cheaper bs.

The 6-bolt motor was not around in 93, it was only produced until arpil/may of the 92 model year. The 4g63t will be soooo much easier to build up than a non-turbo, and the aftermarket support is much greater. As stated above, it's much easier to deal with a factory turbo car. And yeah, AWD is pretty awesome. As far as mitsu/eagle, just go for whichever comes up, or whichever one you think looks better. They're both mechanically identical, and equally awesome.

I just want to throw out that in my previous post I mentioned only the GS-T since you were considering a GS. Obviously with my own GSX I can vouch for how fun it is to have AWD. I almost miss traction problems. I guess I need more tuning to put down better power.

Keep your eyes open for good deals and I'm sure one will come your way.

Absolutely the best way to make horsepower (other than buying a DSM in general :thumb: ) is to start with the best platform possible. (ie: GSX, GS-T, Tsi ) It will be much cheaper after all is said and done, will start with much more horsepower, and the motor will be WAY more durable. If you dont mind staying with 5-8lbs of boost, have a thick wallet and have lots of time on your hands go with the N/T. But that would just be :beatentodeath: in my opinion.

1gnt's and 2gnt Spyders are pretty easy to boost. AWD is not an option with 420a 2gnt's, or 1gnt's. 2gnt Spyders, and the 2g GS-T/TSi give you the option of converting to AWD if you have the time and resources. GSX/TSi AWD gives you a factory turbocharged 4g63 and AWD. The 4g63 also accepts much more power on it's stock bottom end, before stronger internals are required.

Boosting a 420a 2gnt is not as expensive or time consuming as many here lead you to believe, although you will be limited to ~8psi unless you fork out for a bottom end build, after which you face the same limits as you would with a 4g63.

I like my 2gnt, and have no interest in a GS-T/TSi. I can boost my 2gnt, and be faster than a stock GS-T/TSi, and my total investment would be less than purchasing a same-year factory turbocar. I am always in the market for a 2gb GSX, though.

It's your money, and your local market. There's your options.

what you REALLY want is a 92 AWD DSM with the 6 bolt engine, 4 bolt rear end, rear LSD and ABS. ;)
